-A common misunderstanding: that worship is something we receive; worship is not what you get, it is what you give
-Romans 1-11 - doctrine of salvation, our depravity, none is righteous, salvation has come to the Jews and Gentile, faith comes by hearing the Word of Christ
-It was important to know right doctrine, teaching in order to know how to worship
Worship is the adoration of a redeemed people, occupied with God himself.

-God desires a living sacrifice, the animal sacrifices have ended, God desires men and women to bring all that is within them to glorify Him
-Even in the OT animal sacrifices were an outward symbol of a persons heart
Isaiah 1:13 (ESV)
-This is the proper response to God’s gift of salvation, it is not God you are to give me more, it is God: Thank you! Worthy are You! Praise Your name! May my every breath exalt the name of Jesus! May my deeds glorify You!
-Now what are we to present? Our bodies, thats not always easy, our bodies contain our humanness, our depravity, our flesh
Romans 6:12-13 (ESV)
1 Corinthians 6:20 (ESV)
-We worship God by continually submitting our body to conform to Christ
-We bring our flesh, our body to the Word of God, we ask God help me to live for your glory, help me to cast out my fleshly desires, help my actions glorify you
-Notice it is a living sacrifice, it is continuous, it is daily
Worship is Mindful
Worship is Mindful
-It is with the mind that we make choices
-transformed, do not think like the world, your mindfulness toward God is to be renewed
Psalm 1:2 (ESV)
Colossians 3:16 (ESV)
Colossians 3:1–2 (ESV)
-We say we love the Lord, we desire to worship Him, but the question is what are you giving Him? Do you truly love God? How are you a living sacrifice to God? Are you more concerned about your comfort? Whether or not we have coffee this morning? If its too cold or too hot? Is the desire of your heart: God I desire to give my all to honor you
To God thou owest thyself, and all thou hast—yield thyself as a living sacrifice, it is but thy reasonable service.
Charles Spurgeon
