Tonight’s lesson will be on bullying. This is a topic I’ve felt the need on teaching for a while. We as a group tease a lot, but I think we can take it too far sometimes (I’m guilty of it as well) but nonetheless I felt it was important to do this so that maybe it can help us see the difference and be mindful of our words and actions throughout our life. We also never know what someone puts up with in their daily life.
Colossians 3:12 “Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience,”
Luke 6:27-28 “But I say to you who hear, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you.”
We are called to love. Jesus Himself in Matthew 22:37-40 says “And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.”
So as Christ followers what are we called to do above all else? LOVE!
Anyone here ever struggle with loving someone or something? Struggle with loving school? Struggle with loving yourself? Struggle with someone who is always pointing our your flaws?
How do you deal with someone who is always picking on you? Always spreading rumors? Always threatening you?
What do you do when someone is bullying you?
How did Jesus respond when He was being persecuted? He showed love and even said, “Father forgive them for they know not what they do”, while He was being crucified.
Matthew 5:43-45 ““You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.”
