Tyshawn’s Funeral

What do you do......when life happens?
Life isn’t always fair. Just ask brother Job about that.
2 Corinthians 1:3–4 KJV
Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.
Psalm 30:5 KJV
For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.
Job 14:1 KJV
Man that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble.
Psalm 73:26 KJV
My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.
Message:
2 Corinthians 4:17–18 NLT
For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.
Topic: Don’t Get Distracted.
There are a lot of things that are competing for our attention.
Especially with our youth, my heart and my prayers go out to our young people, because there is so much that is going on with them.
There are so many things that are pulling on them and drawing them into things that will not benefit them.
They are being exposed to things that 20 and 30 years ago were uncommon knowledge.
And it is just not the young people. Us adults, we have so much that competes for our attention. We have careers, we have families, we have relationships, we have school, we have hobbies, there are a lot of things in our life.
But with all of the things that we have going on in our life, lets take time to focus on what is important. The most important thing in your life is your soul and where your soul will spend eternity.
We have to focus on what is ahead for us after this life. There is a life to live after this life. And in order to live eternal life, we need to keep our priorities and our eyes on Jesus! We need to focus on the life that the LORD has prepared for those who love Him.
Life is full of trouble, there will be trouble on every hand, and you don’t know what kind of hand you’ll be dealt in the stack of cards called life.
Paul writes about trouble in our text, it seemed as if everywhere he went, he was faced with trouble. Where are here today dealing with trouble, we are hear today dealing with hurt.
And sometimes, we can experience so much trouble in life that it can make us want to give up on life itself.
Paul said in verse 8 of 2 Cor 4th chapter:
2 Corinthians 4:8–9 KJV
We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;
Then he said:
2 Corinthians 4:10 KJV
Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.
Paul says in the next verse that because he preaches Jesus that he lives in constant danger of death.
But Jesus because bad things happen in your life doesn’t mean that you give up and throw in the towel. You gotta keep pressing on. That’s the word of comfort I want to give to you today, death has invaded, death has taken someone that you love dearly, but you keep pressing on, you keep pushing, and you keep your focus on God......I’ve got personal experience that God is the only one that can pull you through the darkest of times, He is the only one that has the power to heal your deepest pain!
Paul knew this, and he says in verse 16:
2 Corinthians 4:16 NLT
That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day.
Encourage someone sitting near you and tell them never give up!
Why?
2 Corinthians 4:17 NLT
For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever!
