Matthew 27:1-31, You have said so… (Note if you are reading there many spelling errors )
Have you ever been mistaken for someone ells? A person comes to you and calls you by some other name, thinking you are that Person? It might be a brother, sister, family member or you look like some one they know.
Or even worse/ different you have been blamed for something you did not do, the mistook you for someone ells.
Or at work in class, the teacher leacure or boss, asks: who did this? And everyone points to you… But you did not do it…
Or your picking teams, and everyone is picked but you…
Or in team sports, you get taken out of the game you are substituted someone ells takes your place…
And in your mind, you are better that that person… The same at work, study, someone ells get praise instead of you… What if that person was a known criminal in your town, … and many people call for the criminal to be set free or to get the job, or the promotion, or the whatever… The guilty goes free… Injustice… How could God ever let that happen? Why did God do that to me?
And still we are barely, experiencing what Jesus was going through. – (And that Jesus could at moment stop it, he had the power to Jesus extreme meekness, and love for all his enemies – like us, who was in darkness, and Jesus life, death, resurrection, by faith transfers us in to his light, Gods family reconciled to God, sin, paid for, restored to life, hope of resurrection and eternal life with Jesus in his return ). Because Jesus choses to be out substitute. (Substitution atonement.)
1-2
Why do they take council against Jesus again they had done that the evening before? All the comentaters write that it is because the trial held the night before could not make a vircitc because it was night and the trial need to be at daylight to be valid. – Therefore no surprise They condemn Jesus again to death and sends him to Pilate, to get permission to kill Jesus.
PPT about Pilate historical not in real places Sadie.
3-10
Judas sees that Jesus is condemned to death, and changes his mind and appeal to the chief priests, that he had betrayed an innocent man, - the response is saying about the chief priests, they don’t care, they just wanted Jesus dead it did not matter if he was innocent. 5v Judas Upset throws the 30 silver coins into the temple (where is he?) Place? Then Judas goes away and hangs himself. (Peter vs Judas? Where was there hops set?). Worldly sorrow (leads to death – I am sorry I got court sorry for the what my actions did, but not a change of mind to God) and Godly repentance, to go before God humbled and in need of his forgiveness, because his spirt has changed our heart and we regret the not only the “action”, but all that went in to making the choice. And out hope and trust is in Jesus life, death, resurrection. And that is who we live for. So we can be sorry in an un Godly was, and we can in Jesus have godly greef that leads to repentance and change.
6. the priest – what a very strange religious system, they don’t care about an innocent man condemned to death, but they don’t what to put the money in to the treasury, crazy, it is blood money, but they do nothing about the person that is condemned, religious practice at it worst. They by a field and even the field is called the field of blood. Zack and Jeremiah.
11-14 Pilate is greatly amazed that Jesus does not respond to the all the charges that the elders and chief priests. He does agree with Pilate as he asks him if the is the king of the Jews. Pilate tried to get Jesus set free, how well he gives the crowd a choice do they want Barabbas or Jesus set free?
Pilate has a few reasons, he is amazed at Jesus, he knows that the Chief priests has delivered Jesus to him because of envy and his wife has warrened him about doing anything to Jesus, calling Jesus righteous. And asking what evil Jesus had done that Why would they want him killed? They gave on answer but just shouted all the more that Jesus should be crucified.
The elders and the chief priests in 20 persuaded the crowed to ask for Barabbas and call for the destruction of Jesus. Jesus at this point does not have the backing of the crow, some days ago many sung his praises as he road in to Jerusalem. This crowd is not alt all doing that but is calling for a convicted criminal to be released and the one with no sin to be killed. Pilate asks why as I just said, they give on reason but just shouts, let him be crucified.
Reactions to Jesus,
Judas, / no hope, / kills himself, - worldly sorrow that leads to death.
Chief priest elders – was a rebel released and Jesus the one they know is innocent killed. (Jesus was and enemy of their greed ambissions and they were envious of Jesus)
Pilate – tried to get understand who Jesus was or why he was sent to him but did not find out. He goes with the practical solution. Even when he knows that Jesus is innocent, washes his hands of blood. (Why scurge, to get him relased after the punisment). PPT – Scourging
The crowed: The blood that the Jews yell that blood be on us and our children what a statement – like the one it is better that one man die…
The soldiers
Use him as entertainment, mocking him, - they act like the Jews did the night before, spit on him and hit him, why, they are bord and in a contry that is not their own, many trubles conflights killings, this is the opptunity to get some anger and wrath vengens on the Jews or the prisoner at hand.
Barabbas? He must have been confused? Who is this man? Why am I set free? What did that man do? Why me?
Scape goat -Jesus fulfilling the shadow of the day of atonement. The innocent dies for the sins of the people, (Explain – or video)
Where are you? And were are we in the story? What is our response to Jesus? Do we jump between?
No matter who did what in the story, - the scriptures would be forfuiled and untilmatly it was God that made the plan. In the council of God the plan was made to redeem all who would come, by the sacifise the supstutionery atoment of the guilty for the one with no sin that God made sin so we could be counted richutys.
