Got Questions
Should we keep the sabbath?
Yes of course!! But it does not have to be Saturday, or even Sunday.
Exodus 20:8–11 ESV
8 “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor, and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, you, or your son, or your daughter, your male servant, or your female servant, or your livestock, or the sojourner who is within your gates. 11 For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.
Jesus did not teach to obey the sabbath in the same ways that the Pharisees did!
John 7:22–23 ESV
22 Moses gave you circumcision (not that it is from Moses, but from the fathers), and you circumcise a man on the Sabbath. 23 If on the Sabbath a man receives circumcision, so that the law of Moses may not be broken, are you angry with me because on the Sabbath I made a man’s whole body well?
Mark 2:27–28 ESV
27 And he said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. 28 So the Son of Man is lord even of the Sabbath.”
Paul writes about this in Romans & Colossians
Romans 14:1–8 ESV
1 As for the one who is weak in faith, welcome him, but not to quarrel over opinions. 2 One person believes he may eat anything, while the weak person eats only vegetables. 3 Let not the one who eats despise the one who abstains, and let not the one who abstains pass judgment on the one who eats, for God has welcomed him. 4 Who are you to pass judgment on the servant of another? It is before his own master that he stands or falls. And he will be upheld, for the Lord is able to make him stand. 5 One person esteems one day as better than another, while another esteems all days alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. 6 The one who observes the day, observes it in honor of the Lord. The one who eats, eats in honor of the Lord, since he gives thanks to God, while the one who abstains, abstains in honor of the Lord and gives thanks to God. 7 For none of us lives to himself, and none of us dies to himself. 8 For if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord’s.
Colossians 2:16–17 ESV
16 Therefore let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink, or with regard to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath. 17 These are a shadow of the things to come, but the substance belongs to Christ.
All the early church apostles agreed on this
Acts 15:19–20 ESV
19 Therefore my judgment is that we should not trouble those of the Gentiles who turn to God, 20 but should write to them to abstain from the things polluted by idols, and from sexual immorality, and from what has been strangled, and from blood.
Early Church Tradition of Sunday Worship
Acts 2:46–47 ESV
46 And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, 47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.
Acts 20:7 ESV
7 On the first day of the week, when we were gathered together to break bread, Paul talked with them, intending to depart on the next day, and he prolonged his speech until midnight.
1 Corinthians 16:2 ESV
2 On the first day of every week, each of you is to put something aside and store it up, as he may prosper, so that there will be no collecting when I come.
Jhn 20.19 “19 On the evening of that day, the first day of the week, the doors being locked where the disciples were for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you.””
Rev 1.10 “10 I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day, and I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet”

PRAYER
A - Our great God and father everything we have is yours. Our health is your our wealth is yours our wisdom and even our faith belongs to you. For there is nothing that we have that we were not given by you. Your word tells us that every good and perfect gift comes from you. It is to you that we bring our praise.
C - We also come before you today to confess to your our failures and faults, our sins that we commit either by overt disobedience or covert lack of obedience. Much of our transgressions are due to our weak faith. You have commanded thus and so and yet we do not obey due to our lack of faith.
T - Thank you Father that you are patient with us. Thank you for your word which will encourage us today to have a greater faith.
S - It is to this end that we come before you today. LORD we believe but help our unbelief. Lord we have some faith but we wish that we might have more. We desire for our hearts to burn with zeal for you, for our lives to count for you, for our praise to be pleasing to you. We want, No LORD we need your faith, your hope your salvation. Increase in us we pray. Speak to our hearts now by your spirit through the preaching and teaching in your word. Your word is truth and life.
In the precious name of Jesus the Holy one of God our spotless lamb we do bring these confessions, thanksgivings, and petitions to you today. AMEN!
MESSAGE

Accept the Venture of Faith

Galatians 3:2 ESV
2 Let me ask you only this: Did you receive the Spirit by works of the law or by hearing with faith?
Heb 11.1 “1 Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.”
Venture means—“to dare, to risk, to undertake.” But when we begin the venture of faith, we have everything to gain and nothing to lose.
Mk 8.36 “36 For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul?”
1 Tim 6.7 “7 for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world.”
Phil 1.21 “21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.”
When we begin to live by faith, God sends blessings we never dreamed possible. Miracles begin to happen.
Luke 6:38 “38 give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.””
Jhn 14.12 “12 “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father.”
Courage is needed to accept the challenge.
Matt 16.24 “24 Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.”
Josh 10.25 “25 And Joshua said to them, “Do not be afraid or dismayed; be strong and courageous. For thus the Lord will do to all your enemies against whom you fight.””
Galatians 3:6–7 ESV
6 just as Abraham “believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness”? 7 Know then that it is those of faith who are the sons of Abraham.

Appraise the Value of Faith

Galatians 3:9 ESV
9 So then, those who are of faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith.
Eph 1.3 “3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places,”
Faith is valuable because it pleases God.
Heb 11.6 “6 And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.”
Jhn 4.24 “24 God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.””
Faith is the means by which we receive salvation (Eph. 2:8).
Eph 2.8 “8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God,”
Faith keeps us steadfast and secure, and helps us to resist Satan.
Eph 6.16 “16 In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one;”
2 Cor 5.7 “7 for we walk by faith, not by sight.”
Matt 21.22 “22 And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.””
Galatians 3:11 ESV
11 Now it is evident that no one is justified before God by the law, for “The righteous shall live by faith.”

Apply the Vision of Faith

Galatians 3:23 ESV
23 Now before faith came, we were held captive under the law, imprisoned until the coming faith would be revealed.
Galatians 3:16 ESV
16 Now the promises were made to Abraham and to his offspring. It does not say, “And to offsprings,” referring to many, but referring to one, “And to your offspring,” who is Christ.
Matt 13.17 “17 For truly, I say to you, many prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it.”
Vision is the ability “to direct the eyes, to discern, distinguish, discover.”
Heb 12.2 “2 looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.”
Faith fosters a positive outlook.
Phil 4.13 “13 I can do all things through him who strengthens me.”
Rom 8.31 “31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?”
The vision of faith discovers otherwise unseen possibilities and opportunities.
Luke 17:5–6 “5 The apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith!” 6 And the Lord said, “If you had faith like a grain of mustard seed, you could say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you.”
Faith also causes us to share our confidence that God will keep His promises.
1 Pet 2.6 “6 For it stands in Scripture: “Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone, a cornerstone chosen and precious, and whoever believes in him will not be put to shame.””
Rom 10.11 “11 For the Scripture says, “Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.””
Galatians 3:18 ESV
18 For if the inheritance comes by the law, it no longer comes by promise; but God gave it to Abraham by a promise.

Announce the Victory of Faith

Galatians 3:13–14 ESV
13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us—for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree”— 14 so that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we might receive the promised Spirit through faith.
1 Jhn 5.4 “4 For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.”
Faith always brings the victory. Our finite powers are linked to God’s infinite resources.
Jhn 14.18 “18 “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.”
Lk 1.37 “37 For nothing will be impossible with God.””
Matt 17.20 “20 He said to them, “Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.””
Sharing our victories inspires the faith of others. Faith is contagious.
Hebrews 11:3–5 ESV
3 By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible. 4 By faith Abel offered to God a more acceptable sacrifice than Cain, through which he was commended as righteous, God commending him by accepting his gifts. And through his faith, though he died, he still speaks. 5 By faith Enoch was taken up so that he should not see death, and he was not found, because God had taken him. Now before he was taken he was commended as having pleased God.
Hebrews 11:7–9 ESV
7 By faith Noah, being warned by God concerning events as yet unseen, in reverent fear constructed an ark for the saving of his household. By this he condemned the world and became an heir of the righteousness that comes by faith. 8 By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place that he was to receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going. 9 By faith he went to live in the land of promise, as in a foreign land, living in tents with Isaac and Jacob, heirs with him of the same promise.
Hebrews 11:11 ESV
11 By faith Sarah herself received power to conceive, even when she was past the age, since she considered him faithful who had promised.
Hebrews 11:17 ESV
17 By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac, and he who had received the promises was in the act of offering up his only son,
Hebrews 11:20–24 ESV
20 By faith Isaac invoked future blessings on Jacob and Esau. 21 By faith Jacob, when dying, blessed each of the sons of Joseph, bowing in worship over the head of his staff. 22 By faith Joseph, at the end of his life, made mention of the exodus of the Israelites and gave directions concerning his bones. 23 By faith Moses, when he was born, was hidden for three months by his parents, because they saw that the child was beautiful, and they were not afraid of the king’s edict. 24 By faith Moses, when he was grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter,
Hebrews 11:27–31 ESV
27 By faith he left Egypt, not being afraid of the anger of the king, for he endured as seeing him who is invisible. 28 By faith he kept the Passover and sprinkled the blood, so that the Destroyer of the firstborn might not touch them. 29 By faith the people crossed the Red Sea as on dry land, but the Egyptians, when they attempted to do the same, were drowned. 30 By faith the walls of Jericho fell down after they had been encircled for seven days. 31 By faith Rahab the prostitute did not perish with those who were disobedient, because she had given a friendly welcome to the spies.
Recognizing victories strengthens one’s own faith.
The hungry are fed by faith - The thirsty are quenched by faith - the lame walk by faith - the mute talk by faith - the blind see by faith - the dead rise by faith - the leper is cleansed by faith - the broken is whole by faith - the sick is made well by faith - the prisoner is free by faith - the abandoned are adopted by faith - the adulterer is given amnesty by faith -
Alcohol is abandoned by faith
Pornography is put away by faith
Drugs are dealt with by fait
Families are restored by faith
Hope and love and peace and joy and purpose are experienced by faith
Congregations are built by faith - and People prevail by faith -
God should always be praised and glorified, for He deserves our continual praise (Heb. 13:15).
