Obedience calls us to live out a life of service and love for others

On this Holy Week Wednesday, we are reminded of the sacrifice Jesus made for us on the cross. We remember how sin has separated us from God and how Jesus, through his obedience, humbly served those around him. Today, I want to talk about how Jesus' example of obedience calls us to live out a life of service and love for others.
In Isaiah 50:4-9, we are reminded of humanity's fallen state. Sin has caused a separation between us and God. We have fallen short of His glory and have become slaves to sin. But in John 13:21-32, we see Jesus' obedience to the Father. He humbly served those around him, even washing the feet of his disciples, an act reserved for the lowliest of servants.
Jesus' example of obedience is one that we must follow. In Hebrews 12:1-3, we are encouraged to lay aside every weight and sin that clings so closely and to run with endurance the race that is set before us. We must fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith.
Our response to Jesus' example of obedience is to lay aside our sin and serve others. We must recognize our own sinful nature and turn to Jesus for forgiveness, as we read in Psalm 70. We must follow Jesus' example of obedience and service to others, putting their needs before our own. As we do this, we will be fulfilling the greatest commandment to love God and love our neighbors as ourselves.
As we reflect on Jesus' example of obedience, let us also persevere in our Christian walk, looking to Jesus for strength. The journey is not an easy one, but through His sacrifice on the cross, we have been given the gift of eternal life. Let us honor His sacrifice by living a life of service and love for others.
In conclusion, let us remember that Jesus' example of obedience calls us to live out a life of service and love for others. We must recognize our own sinful nature, turn to Jesus for forgiveness, and follow His example of obedience and service to others. Let us persevere in our Christian walk, looking to Jesus for strength. May we honor His sacrifice by living a life of service and love for others. Amen.
