Big Idea: Christ-like humility promotes God honoring unity.

I. United in The Gospel — Our Mindset (vs. 1-2)

Encouragement in Christ --- same mind

Comfort from Jesus’ love ----- same love

Participation in the Spirit ---- same spirit

Affection and sympathy ---- same mind

II. Application - Our Relationships (vs. 3-4)

A. Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit.

B. But in humility count others more significant than yourselves.

a. Look not only to his own interests.

b. But also to the interests of others.

III. Humiliation of Jesus - Our Example (vs. 5-11)

Christ was in the form of God

-did not count equality with God as something to be grasped

-emptied himself by taking the form of a servant, born in the likeness of men

-humbled himself by being obedient to death, even on a cross

Therefore God has highly exalted him, name above all names

So That

-every knee should bow, in heaven (spiritual) and on earth (human) and under the earth (deceased).

-every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord

-to the glory of God the Father.
