The Living Word VII
I would like to continue with our series “The Living Word” from the book of john the 4th gospel.
John wrote this gospel to bring correction to the many false teachings going around and to encourage the believers.
In the gospel of John, he showed.
Jesus as God, in human flesh.
John’s audience is the whole world.
John tells us who Jesus is.
John’s book is all about Jesus.
Abiding in Christ
Lets pray
They were on the way to the Garden of Gethsemane in the valley of Kidron
Joh 15:1 "I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener.
Olive trees and grapes were all around as they walked to the garden Jesus launches into something spiritual. vide cultures, vine dresser
Isaiah 5 the true vine
Isa 5:1 I will sing for the one I love a song about his vineyard: My loved one had a vineyard on a fertile hillside.
Isa 5:2 He dug it up and cleared it of stones and planted it with the choicest vines. He built a watchtower in it and cut out a winepress as well. Then he looked for a crop of good grapes, but it yielded only bad fruit.
Isa 5:3 "Now you dwellers in Jerusalem and people of Judah, judge between me and my vineyard.
Isa 5:4 What more could have been done for my vineyard than I have done for it? When I looked for good grapes, why did it yield only bad?
Isa 5:5 Now I will tell you what I am going to do to my vineyard: I will take away its hedge, and it will be destroyed; I will break down its wall, and it will be trampled.
Joh 15:2 He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.
He will cleansed you take the dead parts away
Joh 15:3 You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you.
His word will confront us, will afflict the comfortable
It will also encourage and comfort you.
By scripture and suffering he is committed to your growth.
Joseph was sold by his brothers, what you intended for evil
Joh 15:4 Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.
Joh 15:5 "I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.
We are branches, twigs nothing to brag about, is good for burning or baring fruit. Our value is in our connectedness to Jesus.
Joh 15:6 If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned.
Joh 15:7 If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.
I have a problem with this, I have prayed and believed and nothing happened, no is an answer, if was God’s will it would be done
Joh 15:8 This is to my Father's glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.
Joh 15:9 "As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love.
Joh 15:10 If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commands and remain in his love.
Joh 15:11 I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.
Joh 15:12 My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.
Joh 15:13 Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends.
Joh 15:14 You are my friends if you do what I command.
Joh 15:15 I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master's business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.
Joh 15:16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.
Just relax stay close to Jesus abide in him you will bare much fruit
Joh 15:17 This is my command: Love each other. Not a feeling, this what we have to do.
To people who we deemed unlovable, unlovable.
I have met couples who have been married for years and still haven’t figure that out. Others are no longer together because they didn’t have feelings towards each other, this was not what He commanded
Love if they make you feel good, or love them if you have this great feelings and emotions towards them. Has nothing to do with our emotions.
I’m not talking about abusive situations, if the person you are trying to love has become harmful or a danger you may need to love them from a distance, but we still need to love them in our hearts, pray for them. Report them if they are harming someone you know, love doesn’t condone evil.
Joh 15:18 "If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first.
Joh 15:19 If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you.
People will hate you just because you love God.
Judge who hated his daughters because they became Christians.
Joh 15:20 Remember what I told you: 'A servant is not greater than his master.' If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also.
Joh 15:21 They will treat you this way because of my name, for they do not know the one who sent me.
Joh 15:22 If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not be guilty of sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin.
Joh 15:23 Whoever hates me hates my Father as well.
Joh 15:24 If I had not done among them the works no one else did, they would not be guilty of sin. As it is, they have seen, and yet they have hated both me and my Father.
Joh 15:25 But this is to fulfill what is written in their Law: 'They hated me without reason.'
Joh 15:26 "When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father—the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father—he will testify about me.
Joh 15:27 And you also must testify, for you have been with me from the beginning.
Make Jesus the Lord of your life.
Joh 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
