Christ is willing to heal us. He was willing to suffer a terrible beating so we could be healed.
- Matt 8:1-3, v.5-17 Christ hasn't changed - He is still willing to heal us (Heb 13:8)
- Jesus Christ suffered an incredible beating that we could be healed (Isa 53:1-5) (stripes = blows that cut in).
Matthew 27
Note to self: Since my Lord and Savior submitted Himself to such a horrendous beating so I could be healed, and I am now His property, how is it that I find the audacity to eat garbage food and sit around on my butt and not get any exercise?
Gotta Stop!!!
- Forgiveness and healing are tied together (Matt 9:1-8) See Expositor's Bible Commentary
Key: Christ's sacrifice was 2 part! 1. The scourging & 2. the cross.
v.18-25 God works through human instruments.
v.27-29 Jesus made it clear that healing was in great part "according to our faith".
God can heal anything - nothing is too hard for God: Gen 18:14; Jer 32:17, 27
Jesus Commanded: Matt 10:1, 7-8
1. Preach the gospel
2. Heal the sick
3. Cast out demons
- See the difference between those mentioned in Mark 6:3-5 and those mentioned in Mark 6:12-13
