Some of you may have read the book or seen the film “The Getting of Wisdom.” Briefly it relates the story of a young girl from a sheltered background, attending a private girls’ school and learning about life - that is, “Getting Wisdom.” To the author, learning how to live in an often hostile world was important. For Christians, it is a similar story. As we grow in our faith, by God’s grace & the work of His Holy Spirit, we acquire “wisdom” but it is a spiritual wisdom, a wisdom that the unbeliever doesn’t understand. James has already expressed one of the enigmas of the Christian life - experiencing “pure joy” while enduring many trials!” Joy in suffering!
