Dear brothers and sisters,
Today, I want to speak with you about finding shelter in God. The Bible is full of verses that speak of finding refuge and safety in God, who is described as a strong tower, a fortress, and a place of protection in times of trouble. Psalm 46 is a psalm that speaks of finding shelter in God, who is our refuge and strength in times of trouble. The hymn "A Mighty Fortress is our God" also encourages believers to find shelter and strength in God, who is a powerful and faithful protector.
As we go through life, we all face challenges and difficulties. We may feel overwhelmed by the trials and tribulations that we face. But the good news is that we have a God who is greater than all of our problems. He is our refuge and strength, and we can find safety in His arms.
Psalm 91:1-2 says, "He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, 'He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.'" This verse emphasizes the importance of dwelling in God's presence and finding refuge in Him. When we trust in God and seek shelter in Him, we can rest in His shadow and find peace in the midst of turmoil.
The hymn "A Mighty Fortress is our God" reminds us that we cannot rely on our own strength, but must instead rely on God's power and protection. We are not alone in the battle against sin and temptation. Jesus Christ is our Savior and our defender, and He is with us always. By placing our trust in Him, we can find safety and shelter in His love.
In closing, let us remember that we have a God who is our refuge and strength. No matter what challenges we face in life, we can find safety and shelter in Him. Let us trust in His power and protection, and let us seek His presence always. May God bless you and keep you safe in His loving arms. Amen.
The Bible has many verses that refer to finding shelter, both in a physical and a spiritual sense. Here are some examples:
Psalm 91:1-2 says, "He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, 'He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.'" Psalm 27:5 says, "For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his sacred tent and set me high upon a rock." Psalm 61:3-4 says, "For you have been my refuge, a strong tower against the foe. I long to dwell in your tent forever and take refuge in the shelter of your wings." Proverbs 18:10 says, "The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe." Matthew 8:20 says, "Jesus replied, 'Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.'"
These verses emphasize the importance of finding refuge and shelter in God, who is described as a strong tower, a sacred tent, and a place of safety in times of trouble. Additionally, there are examples throughout the Bible of individuals finding physical shelter in times of need, such as when David fled from King Saul and found refuge in a cave (1 Samuel 22:1-2). Overall, the Bible encourages us to seek shelter and protection in God and to trust in His provision for our physical and spiritual needs.
Psalm 46 is a psalm that speaks of finding shelter in God, who is described as a refuge and strength in times of trouble. Here are some key verses from the psalm:
"God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea." (verses 1-2)
These verses affirm that God is our place of safety and protection, even in the midst of chaos and destruction. The psalm goes on to describe God as a river that brings joy to the city of God, and a fortress that brings peace and security to his people.
"Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth." (verse 10)
This verse emphasizes the importance of trusting in God and being still in His presence, even in the midst of turmoil and uncertainty. By acknowledging God's power and sovereignty, we can find peace and security in His shelter.
Overall, Psalm 46 encourages us to find refuge in God, who is our source of strength and safety in times of trouble.
The hymn "A Mighty Fortress is our God" was written by Martin Luther and is based on Psalm 46, which speaks of finding shelter in God. The hymn emphasizes God's power, protection, and faithfulness, and encourages believers to find refuge in Him. Here are some key verses from the hymn:
"A mighty fortress is our God, a bulwark never failing; Our helper He, amid the flood of mortal ills prevailing. For still our ancient foe doth seek to work us woe; His craft and power are great, and, armed with cruel hate, On earth is not his equal."
These opening lines of the hymn describe God as a mighty fortress that provides protection from the trials and challenges of life. The hymn acknowledges the presence of an enemy who seeks to harm us, but affirms that God's power is greater.
"Did we in our own strength confide, our striving would be losing, Were not the right Man on our side, the Man of God's own choosing. Dost ask who that may be? Christ Jesus, it is He; Lord Sabaoth, His name, from age to age the same, And He must win the battle."
This verse emphasizes the importance of relying on God's strength, rather than our own. The hymn points to Jesus Christ as the source of our salvation and the one who will ultimately bring victory in the spiritual battle.
Overall, "A Mighty Fortress is our God" encourages believers to find shelter and strength in God, who is a powerful and faithful protector. The hymn affirms that in God's strength and through Jesus Christ, we can overcome the challenges we face and find safety in His arms.
The line "One little word shall fell him" is found in the third verse of the hymn "A Mighty Fortress is our God," written by Martin Luther. The full verse reads:
"And though this world, with devils filled, Should threaten to undo us, We will not fear, for God hath willed His truth to triumph through us. The Prince of Darkness grim, We tremble not for him; His rage we can endure, For lo! his doom is sure, One little word shall fell him."
In this context, the line "One little word shall fell him" refers to the power of God's Word to defeat the Prince of Darkness (Satan). The hymn expresses confidence that, no matter what trials or temptations we may face, we need not fear because God's truth will ultimately triumph through us. Satan, the "Prince of Darkness grim," may rage against us, but we can endure his attacks knowing that his ultimate defeat is certain.
The "little word" mentioned in the hymn is a reference to the Word of God, which is powerful and effective in defeating the enemy. In Hebrews 4:12, we read that "the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart."
So when the hymn says that "one little word shall fell him," it is a statement of faith in the power of God's Word to defeat Satan and all his works. It is a reminder that, no matter what challenges we may face, we can trust in God's Word and find strength and protection in His love.
The motto of Servpro, "Like it never happened," emphasizes their commitment to restoring damaged properties to their pre-loss condition. It conveys a sense of reassurance to customers that their property will be returned to its original state, erasing the effects of the disaster as much as possible.
Similarly, the protection of God can be seen as a way of restoring our lives to their intended state. When we turn to God for refuge and strength, we can find healing and restoration for the damage caused by sin, pain, and suffering in our lives. Through His grace and mercy, God can help us to overcome the effects of our past mistakes, and empower us to live a life of purpose and fulfillment.
The Bible tells us in Isaiah 43:25, "I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more." This verse speaks of God's power to wipe away our sins and mistakes, as if they had never happened. In this sense, God's protection can be seen as a way of making things "like it never happened," by erasing the effects of our past mistakes and restoring us to wholeness.
Ultimately, the protection of God is a reminder that, no matter what challenges we may face, we can trust in His love and care to guide us through. Just as Servpro's motto conveys a sense of reassurance to their customers, God's protection can give us the reassurance that we need to face life's difficulties with confidence and hope. When we trust in God's protection, we can be assured that He will work all things together for our good, and that nothing can separate us from His love.
