Standing against the Devil
Job 1:7 (ESV)
7 The Lord said to Satan, “From where have you come?” Satan answered the Lord and said, “From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking up and down on it.”
Recap belt of truth ..What do you buckle yourself to every day.. what truth are you grounded in
Breastplate of righteousness… Are you living by the truth.. When we sin we give the devil a foothold but when we practice the word.. we are protect by God’s righteousness.
Shoes of the Gospel of peace
We should always rememember our foundation is in Christ, we stand on the most solid Rock there is and should not only have the confidence of that but should share it everywhere we walk..
This is the way to stand against the devil
Shield of faith
Ephesians 6:16 (ESV)
16 In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one
In all circumstance.. others say above all..
Upon all… on all.. over all
The shield covers everything.

Wet the leather
Psalm 5:12 (ESV)
12 For you bless the righteous, O Lord;     you cover him with favor as with a shield.
Faith
Romans 1:17 (ESV)
17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.”
Hebrews 11:1 (ESV)
11 Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.
Full trust even when you don’t know how or why

Psalm 27:13 (ESV)
13 I believe that I shall look[a] upon the goodness of the Lord     in the land of the living!
The counter play
God’s counter play. Why we are called to have faith.. what we put our trust in
2 Corinthians 4:14-18 (ESV)
14 knowing that he who raised the Lord Jesus will raise us also with Jesus and bring us with you into his presence. 15 For it is all for your sake, so that as grace extends to more and more people it may increase thanksgiving, to the glory of God.
Our faith is knowing that we are in Christ and that everything that comes at us is for God’s glory.
16 So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. 17 For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, 18 as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.
Light momentary affliction
Bitten by vipers.. shipwrecked multiple times, stoned,
In prison most of his ministry, mocked. Beaten by the religious people.. pain in his side..
Coach up in the press box
The win is right there.. keep playing.. Keep trusting the gameplan.. Keep trusting the coach, who has your best interest in mind.

what happens when we remove our helmet?
Who do I see in the mirror..Me
What happens when I look at the mirror with my helmet on I see Jesus..the one who saved me.. what do others see?
Jeremiah 15:16 (ESV)
16 Your words were found, and I ate them,     and your words became to me a joy     and the delight of my heart, for I am called by your name,     O Lord, God of hosts.
Protects you from satans attacks.
1 Peter 5:8-9 (ESV)
8 Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. 9 Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world.
Shame guilt
The helmet saves us from discouragement
We have to get thinking right
Concussion.. smelling salts..
Protects you from yourself
Romans 1:28 (ESV)
28 And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done.
Romans 8:29 (ESV)
29 For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.
1 Corinthians 2:14-16 (Message)
14-16 The unspiritual self, just as it is by nature, can’t receive the gifts of God’s Spirit. There’s no capacity for them. They seem like so much silliness. Spirit can be known only by spirit—God’s Spirit and our spirits in open communion. Spiritually alive, we have access to everything God’s Spirit is doing, and can’t be judged by unspiritual critics. Isaiah’s question, “Is there anyone around who knows God’s Spirit, anyone who knows what he is doing?” has been answered: Christ knows, and we have Christ’s Spirit.
Protects you from the penalty of sin
Ephesians 2:1 (ESV)
2 And you were dead in the trespasses and sins
Ephesians 2:8-9 (ESV)
8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
Ephesians 4:23-24 (ESV)
23 and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, 24 and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.

The sword of the spirit
Ephesians 6:17b-18a (ESV)
and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, 18 praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication
this is the only offense God gives us.. and some would even argue it is more of a defensive weapon …for protection

Hebrews 4:12 (ESV)
12 For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
The source of the sword is the spirit.
2 Timothy 3:16 (ESV)
16 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,
2 Peter 1:20-21 (ESV)
20 knowing this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture comes from someone's own interpretation. 21 For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
Martyn Lloyd-Jones, The Christian Soldier,”If people claim that impressions they have are from the Spirit, but those impressions contradict Scripture, they are deceived. The Spirit never contradicts the Word.”

Galatians 6:9 (ESV)
9 And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.
I give You glory For all You've brought me through And now I'm ready For whatever You wanna do I'm moving forward To follow after You And now I'm ready For whatever You wanna do In every season Your grace has been enough And I'm believing The best is yet to come The cross before me My hope on things above And in You, Jesus The best is yet to come I know breakthrough is coming By faith, I see a miracle My God made me a promise And it won't stop now Your presence is an open door We want You, Lord Like never before By faith, I see a miracle My God made me a promise And it won't stop now
