Proverbs 5

The value of wisdom in preserving from adultery (chap. 5)
The value of wisdom in preserving from adultery (chap. 5)Specific instruction is given concerning the dangers of the adulteress (vv. 1–6), the final price of infidelity (vv. 7–14), and the delights of married love (vv. 15–20).
Again Solomon urged his sons (cf. comments on 4:1) to listen (cf. 4:1, 10, 20; 5:1; 7:24) and adhere to what he said. He urged them not to turn … from his teachings, but to turn from the adulteress. They were not even to go near … her house (cf. 2:18) because of the danger of succumbing to her temptations.
Q: What might the son's "fountain" be, and what does this have to do with his wife?
A: The topic is married love, therefore his "fountain" is his wife, repeated as "wife of your youth." (Song of Solomon 4:15) The message is, "If you only have sexual relations with your wife, you will avoid many sorrows:
Sexually transmitted diseases, contracted from other lovers.
Broken relationship with your wife, due to lack of trust.
Divorce, with its economic consequences.
Broken children, after they grow up without a father.
