What would you bring with you? (Food, transportation, clothes)

What are all the things that would be hard to leave behind? (friends, school, your playground)

How hard would it be?

What are we thinking about? Hmm us?

When you give someone a present for Christmas.. Do you want them to be excited about it?

What if they are not? What if they dont like it? We feel let down!

See Mary and Joseph just found out they where having a baby and on top of that they had to leave their family, friends adn travel very far without a car or an airplane . it was very Choatic time

A long time before Jesus was born a man named Isaiah said this:

Isaiah 9:6-78 (ESV)

For to us a child is born,

to us a son is given;

and the government shall be upon his shoulder,

and his name shall be called

Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,

Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

7 Of the increase of his government and of peace

there will be no end,

Do you think Mary and Joseph who got to celebrate the first Christmas together with Jesus was Peaceful or chaotic?

Sounds like Choas but maybe because they where with Jesus they where Peace

There is a word That was used when the Bible was written

It is Shalom… everyone say it.. Shalom.. It means PEACE!

It means to be calm to be complete without worrying or feeling stressed out.

… Let me ask you are you there yet? Do you have Peace?

Lost in fear

Luke 2:8-14 (ESV) angel story..

And in the same region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. 9 And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with great fear. 10 And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. 11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.12 And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.” 13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying,

14 “Glory to God in the highest,

and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!”

Now the shepherds were not lost..they were actually right where they were supposed to be but when the Angels showed up..it says they were afraid?

Why? Never saw an angel before? Maybe it was the bright light of God’s glory on the angels? Where they worried that something might happen to them.. They did not know what to say what to do or where to go.

Maybe the shepherd where afraid because they thought they where in trouble

The thought God was coming and they new they did something wrong.. Just like we feel when our parents are coming after we have done something wrong.

The good news is that the angels said do not be afraid and they told them about the First Christmas gift ever!

Jesus our savior is born and they told them where to find them

The angels sang to them saying

“Glory to God in the highest,

and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!”

The shepherds went from being afraid to getting the best present ever to Jesus who brings them Peace.. Calmness stillness no stress

Psalm 34:14 (ESV)

Turn away from evil and do good;

seek peace and pursue it.

The directions to peace

After Jesus was born.. His parents followed and obey the Bible…

Luke 2:22-24 (ESV)

And when the time came for their purification according to the Law of Moses, they brought him up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord 23 (as it is written in the Law of the Lord, “Every male who first opens the womb shall be called holy to the Lord”) 24 and to offer a sacrifice according to what is said in the Law of the Lord, “a pair of turtledoves, or two young pigeons.”

Jesus temple 1-7

We wont be worried if we are their yet or if we are lost if we know the directions to peace

The first direction is too be like Mary and Joseph and obey God and what the Bible says

Romans 10:9-10 (ESV)

because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.

So with are whole heart we have to believe Jesus and with our mouth Confess that he is our Lord

This means he is charge of everything you do!

But why Jesus. I mean its coolt hat he is our Woonderful counselor almighty God Everlasting father and prince of peace.. But why shoould we put him in charge of our life..

Well he was never lost because he did not sin and he knew why he came to earth and that was to die for you and me.

Hebrews 4:15 (ESV)

15 For we do not have a Lord who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.

Colossians 1:22 (ESV)

22 he has now reconciled in his body of flesh by his death, in order to present you holy and blameless and above reproach before him,

John 14:15 (ESV)

15 “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.

John 14:27

27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.
