Introduce myself
Today, we are going to spend a few minutes talking about humility
Ask: How would you define “humility”?
Dictionary.com: “not proud or arrogant; modest:”

Humility is one of the most important components of leadership.
And even more than that, it is “one of the foundational Habits of character.”
Ask: What does it look like for a Baseball player to be humble?
Talking about how well your team did more than you talk about how well you did
Humility is the antidote to pride, which often causes us to stumble
“When we demand the spotlight, toot our own horn or have to get our way, that is pride run amok.”
Ask: What does it look like for a Baseball player to be arrogant?
Talking about how much better they are than their other teammates
Ask: Why is it important for teammates to be humble?
More likely to succeed
Even if you don’t, “win,” it is better for everyone involved.
Ask: How is humility different than low self-esteem?

Humility: Realizing you are flawed and have weaknesses
Low self-esteem: Only viewing yourself as having flaws, rarely acknowledging strengths
Compare the most humble and the most arrogant leader you’ve been around:
Who had more committed followers?
Who set the better example?
Who would they rather follow?
Ask: How would you rate yourself on a scale of 1-10 when it comes to humility? How would your teammates rank you?

Give credit to others
Listen twice as much as you speak
Admit when you are wrong
