Intro

Saving from a fire
What is a firefighter’s mission?
to put out fires
to rescue people from burning buildings
to help save people in emergency situations
Jesus had one mission when He came to this earth: to save those who were lost!

We must always bear in mind that the primary purpose of our work is not to get people to join the church, or to give up their bad habits, or to do anything else than this, to accept Jesus Christ as their Savior, the one who bore their sins in His own body on the tree, and the one through whom they can have immediate and entire forgiveness.

R. A. TORREY*

Religion is about getting people to join churches and or clean up first, relationship is we will take you as you are
Read John 3:16-19 “16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. 19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil.”

God provided a life line!

a life line is very important in firefighting
Why did God provide us the lifeline, because He loved us
He didn’t have to supply us with a lifeline
Titus 3:4-7 “4 But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, 5 he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, 6 whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.”
The Wesleyan Bible Commentary, Volume 4: Matthew–Acts C. God’s Redemptive Love (3:16–21)

The parent strives to save the wayward son, not alone because he is wayward, but because he loves him as a son

1 John 4: 9-10 “9 This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. 10 This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.”
He provided this lifeline because He loves us, because He desires that relationship with us, not because he has to.
the great truth that motivated God;s plan for salvation
Love is both and attribute of God and a description of His being
God’s love extends beyond race and nation even to those who oppose Him

Jesus is the life line!

Man and his only son; would he give him up for all of us; use example of someone here today.
Mt. 1:21 “21 She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.””
the first time He comes as a Savior 2nd time as a judge
Gal 1:1-5 “ 2 To the churches in Galatia: 3 Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, 4 who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, 5 to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.”

Do you trust in the life line!

salvation is a personal matter
repentance of sin
A Treasury of Great Preaching “The Old-Time Religion” (Billy Sunday)

Here it is: “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.”

You say, “Mr. Sunday, the Church is full of hypocrites.” So’s hell. I say to you if you don’t want to go to hell and live with that whole bunch forever, come into the Church, where you won’t have to a&sociafe with them very long. There are no hypocrites in heaven.

You say, “Mr. Sunday, I can be a Christian and go to heaven without joining a church.” Yes, and you can go to Europe without getting on board a steamer. The swimming’s good—but the sharks are laying for fellows who take that route. I don’t believe you. If a man is truly saved he will hunt for a church right away.

will you trust the lifeline

Conclusion

Believe in Him today
The Wesleyan Bible Commentary, Volume 4: Matthew–Acts C. God’s Redemptive Love (3:16–21)

The marvellous truth is that God has taken the initiative, made all necessary provisions, paid the debt, and waits, as the father of the prodigal son, for sinful man to return to Him in faith.
