My simple question tonight is; Are you shooting at the right basket?

There was a story in the Bible - Jesus took his disciples in front of a cave, where everyone else was worshipping fake gods, Sin, in front of a gateway that they call the gateway to hell - He stood there - in front of all the distractions and he asked;

Who do you say I am?

The disciples started saying;

Soem say Elijah | Jeremiah | Prophets - Yes yes, but who do you say I am,

Peter stood up and said;

Matthew 16:16 ESV

Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”

Peter, was shooting at the right basked - Jesus’ question was simple - Is it me your following, or is it the world, is it these distractions, and I just another Idol in your life - or am I the one that gives you power, direction, love and life in your lfie.

Another time in the Bible - Paul the apostle was handing over the church to his disciple Timothy |

And so he wrote 1 Timothy and 2 Timothy, as instructions, encouragement for him - Tells him, don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young | Do what God has put you on this earth to do | Step out of the worlds disctractions | Step in to God’s Purpose | He then says

2 Timothy 1:6 ESV

For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands,

Fan into flame, the gift God has given you - I believe God has given each one of you gifts - He is asking , Fan that gift of God into flame - pour petrol in it.

In a world full of distractions, what is your direction? A simple challenge this evening for you - Are you shooting the ball at the right basket? Because God has a purpose for you, He is just waiting for you to take your shot.

Where does it start? Getting to know this guy Jesus, who wants to lead you to life, that is truly life.
