Carl - announcement.

Most of you will have seen the email this week announcing Carl’s decison to step down as an elder here at GC.
They are not leaving us, Carl has just decided not to serve as an elder. It’s not always easy being an elder, or the wife of one.
So We did thank Carl and Lizzie this morning for many years serving us in that capacity.

MOTHER’S DAY

Children, as you’ve seen the bible is full of mother’s -
and mother’s are an essential part of God’s entire plan for us and our world.
The bible often uses words like this to describe mother’s:
capable
compassionate
strong
teacher
sacrificial
Also, The bible is also full of complicated mother child relationships - as we saw in the video.
But the most important thing we can all remember today, is God’s clear instruction to each of us in relation to our own mother’s:
‘Honour your father and your mother, as the Lord your God has commanded you.
Dt 5:16
God expects us to honour our mother’s and fathers.
Honour means to respect and show love by obeying them
.
And we honour our mother’s not based on what we think about them,
but becasue God has put us in whatever family we now find ourselves in.
The way to love God, is to love our mother’s, to honour them and obey them,
When we don’t, we upset them, but we also displease God.
So, when you give a flower to your mum later, when you see it each day at home, remember,
You can honour your mother, you can love and respect them,
by doing what you are asked
and by doing that, you will love them and be loving God.
