Why do we make excuses.
Why do we make excuses.
We all make excuses in our life I had made many excuses in my life starting with my shyness. I was scared that people would make fun of me for how I spoke, or rejected me because of what I had said, or that I would be pushed away because I said the wrong thing that would be truthful. As in Ex 4:10 “But Moses said to the Lord, “Oh, my Lord, I am not eloquent, either in the past or since you have spoken to your servant, but I am slow of speech and of tongue.” As I have had multiple friends or at least people who I thought were my friends and I thought that I could tell the the truth whether it was good or bad and would be willing to hear me out. However it turned out that they wanted me to tell them what they wanted to hear not the truth. In the book of Leviticus 19:11 ““You shall not steal; you shall not deal falsely; you shall not lie to one another.” So even if it is going to hurt them or make your friends mad at you lying always make s things worse. As if a friends wants you to lie then they are not truly your friend.
Next we need to look at the addiction which can take many forms some are addicted to alcohol, drugs, or gambling. However it does not start out as seeing it as an addiction at first there are excuses such as I can stop when ever I want, it is only a little bit I wont get addicted from a little bit. 1 Thess 5:6-8 “So then let us not sleep, as others do, but let us keep awake and be sober. For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, are drunk at night. But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and for a helmet the hope of salvation.” Some might say that as long as we do it responsibly then it is fine. But the bible tells us in Mark 14:38 “Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” Also in Eph 6:11 “Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.” That is why the best way to fight temptation is for those that have been tempted to lean on each other the bible also backs it up this statement in Heb 2:18 “For because he himself has suffered when tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.” There must be accountability and the best way to be accountable is to have other people hold you accountable. James 5:16 “Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.” Also in 1 Thess 5:11 “Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.”
Therefore excuses are will stick with us for a long time that will effect us all for times to come.
