PRAYING TOGETHER

WHERE DID WE LEAVE PETER AND JOHN.
THEY WERE BEING THREATEN BY THE LEADER NOT TO PREACH IN THE NAME OF JESUS.
WHY DID THEY WANT THEM TO STOP?
John 15:18–19 CSB
“If the world hates you, understand that it hated me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own. However, because you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of it, the world hates you.
Acts 4:23–24 CSB
After they were released, they went to their own people and reported everything the chief priests and the elders had said to them. When they heard this, they raised their voices together to God and said, “Master, you are the one who made the heaven, the earth, and the sea, and everything in them.
They went to their own people. (church)
why is this important? what can we learn for this?
we need people to live life togather with.
living this christian life isn’t easy but when you have people along side you it does lighten the load.
what was the reponse to these followers when they heard of these threats?
“they raised their voices together to GOD and said,”
they had a prayer meeting right there!
why did they open their pray the way they did? Did GOD need the reminder?
they came to GOD with praise in their hearts remembering just who they were speacking to.
Acts 4:25–26 CSB
You said through the Holy Spirit, by the mouth of our father David your servant: Why do the Gentiles rage and the peoples plot futile things? The kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers assemble together against the Lord and against his Messiah.
This comes form Pslams 2:1-2
they quote scripture in their prayer to God.
they recognize who truly gives us the book of Pslams.
they assemble together against the Lord and againgst His Messiah.
So who did the leaders really want to stop? (Peter and John or Jesus)
Acts 4:27–31 CSB
“For, in fact, in this city both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the people of Israel, assembled together against your holy servant Jesus, whom you anointed, to do whatever your hand and your will had predestined to take place. And now, Lord, consider their threats, and grant that your servants may speak your word with all boldness, while you stretch out your hand for healing, and signs and wonders are performed through the name of your holy servant Jesus.” When they had prayed, the place where they were assembled was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak the word of God boldly.
They came against Jesus first.
“to do whatever your hand and your will had predestined to take place”
GOD’s plan are much bigger then the rulers of this world.
They tried to stop Jesus but they couldn’t.
So what to they pray for next?
look at these threats now give us boldness to keep going. WOW!
THEY PRAYED FOR MORE TROUBLE!
They didn’t pray LORD stop these threat, they prayed LORD give us Boldness to over look the threats.
“stretch out your hand for healing” whether they like it or not you don’t answer to them.
v.31 “the place where they were assembled was shaken” I want to have a prayer time like this!
they all knew that the LORD was with them.
Did their prayers affected them? YES!
they spoke the word of GOD boldly.
Acts 4:32–37 CSB
Now the entire group of those who believed were of one heart and mind, and no one claimed that any of his possessions was his own, but instead they held everything in common. With great power the apostles were giving testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great grace was on all of them. For there was not a needy person among them because all those who owned lands or houses sold them, brought the proceeds of what was sold, and laid them at the apostles’ feet. This was then distributed to each person as any had need. Joseph, a Levite from Cyprus by birth, the one the apostles called Barnabas (which is translated Son of Encouragement), sold a field he owned, brought the money, and laid it at the apostles’ feet.
They were united in one common goal, preach the word boldly in the service to the Father.
they shared all of what they had with the group.
they shared the resurrection of the Lord Jesus.
not a needy person among them.
why is this important? Following Christ coast people things.
Action for today
Take you spiritual inadequacies to God in prayer.
If you need boldness pray for boldness.
if you need direction on what He has for you to do pray for it.
