Redemption, Consecration & Consummation
Luke 18:31-34
Luke 18:31-34
A few weeks ago, we started a journey with Jesus, the road to Jerusalem. It started with Peter’s answer to the question, “Whom do men say that I am?”. Peter answered it correctly, he said that Jesus was the “The Christ of God”, the Christ, the anointed one, not just an anointed one but, the anointed one, sent to redeem the world. After this he told them not to say anything to anyone and he also foretold his death for the first time, the third and last time was the passage that I just read to you because, soon after was the Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem and several days after that was the crucifixion and then the resurrection. All of this was the accomplishment of God’s will, God’s plan. What was about to happen was a 2nd Exodus, Luke 9:30-31 “And behold, two men were talking with him, who were Moses and Elijah, who appeared in glory and were speaking about his departure which he was about to fulfill in Jerusalem.”
The word for departure that was used is actually exodus, it wasn’t just be used in a common way like an exit from the scene of a play but, this was part of God’s plan. Only through and exodus are God’s people able to be saved, only through and Exodus are God’s plans fulfilled.
