Esther 2:19-3:6; A Family Feud

Sermon in a sentence: The family of Satan will always plot against the family of God.

The Plot Failed (vs. 19-23)

Mordecai was in the gate of the city, a governmental position. In a sense, Mordecai was part of the “household” or family of Xerxes. (Genesis 39; 40)
The plan came back to bite them. (Psalm 7:14-16, Genesis 3:15; 50:20, 1 Samuel 17)

The Plot Hindered (vs. 1-3)

Mordecai takes a stand against the decree of the king. (Daniel 3)
Mordecai was ok with the decrees so far but not this one?
While I believe it was a pride issue, I do commend him sticking to his decisions.

The Plot Thickened (vs. 4-6)

Mordecai stopped the first plot. Now, Mordecai is the reason for the second plot.
The feud between Haman and Mordecai is really a family issue. (Exodus 17:8-16, 1 Samuel 15:32-33, Genesis 3:15)
