Selling Jesus Short-John 11:1-16

Stilling Storms- See Matt 8.27
Matthew 8:27 ESV
27 And the men marveled, saying, “What sort of man is this, that even winds and sea obey him?”
Forgiving and healing Mark 2.7
Mark 2:7 ESV
7 “Why does this man speak like that? He is blaspheming! Who can forgive sins but God alone?”
Mark 2:12 ESV
12 And he rose and immediately picked up his bed and went out before them all, so that they were all amazed and glorified God, saying, “We never saw anything like this!”
Miracles see Mark 8.4
Mark 8:4 ESV
4 And his disciples answered him, “How can one feed these people with bread here in this desolate place?”
Raising the dead- see John 11.37
John 11:37 ESV
37 But some of them said, “Could not he who opened the eyes of the blind man also have kept this man from dying?”

Waiting On Jesus-John 11.17-27

Consider Psalm 13.1
Psalm 13:1 ESV
1 How long, O Lord? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me?
or Psalm 69.3
Psalm 69:3 ESV
3 I am weary with my crying out; my throat is parched. My eyes grow dim with waiting for my God.
or Psalm 119.82
Psalm 119:82 ESV
82 My eyes long for your promise; I ask, “When will you comfort me?”
Remember, Jesus waited 2 days see John 11.6
John 11:6 ESV
6 So, when he heard that Lazarus was ill, he stayed two days longer in the place where he was.
Patience is a virtue until I’m the one waiting.

Weeping With Jesus-John 11.28-37

Why Does Jesus Weep?
Lazarus lost his life
Mary and Martha lost their brother
The crowd lost their faith (or missed the point)
Jesus weeps with us- compassion
Jesus weeps with us- compassion
Jesus weeps for us-unbelief.
Jesus weeps for us-unbelief.

Walking With Jesus- John 11.38-45.

Faith- look at John 11.45
John 11:45 ESV
45 Many of the Jews therefore, who had come with Mary and had seen what he did, believed in him,
Look earlier at the text of John 11.38-45
John 11:38–45 ESV
38 Then Jesus, deeply moved again, came to the tomb. It was a cave, and a stone lay against it. 39 Jesus said, “Take away the stone.” Martha, the sister of the dead man, said to him, “Lord, by this time there will be an odor, for he has been dead four days.” 40 Jesus said to her, “Did I not tell you that if you believed you would see the glory of God?” 41 So they took away the stone. And Jesus lifted up his eyes and said, “Father, I thank you that you have heard me. 42 I knew that you always hear me, but I said this on account of the people standing around, that they may believe that you sent me.” 43 When he had said these things, he cried out with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out.” 44 The man who had died came out, his hands and feet bound with linen strips, and his face wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, “Unbind him, and let him go.” 45 Many of the Jews therefore, who had come with Mary and had seen what he did, believed in him,
Focus on John 11.40
John 11:40 ESV
40 Jesus said to her, “Did I not tell you that if you believed you would see the glory of God?”
The Biggest Miracle Is Not Keeping Us From Death- it’s Raising us to Life.

The Biggest Miracle Is Not Protecting Us From The Worst- It’s Giving Us His Best

What’s the worst that can happen?
See Mark 15.31
Mark 15:31 ESV
31 So also the chief priests with the scribes mocked him to one another, saying, “He saved others; he cannot save himself.
See John 20.25
John 20:25 ESV
25 So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord.” But he said to them, “Unless I see in his hands the mark of the nails, and place my finger into the mark of the nails, and place my hand into his side, I will never believe.”
Except a grain of wheat fall into the earth and die, it remains alone. But if it dies, it bears much fruit.
