After the ascension of Christ, we know the disciples were instructed to return to Jerusalem and wait for the gift of the Holy Spirit. They did as they were told. The dedicated themselves to gathering, encouraging and prayer. In fact, we see this stated explicitly in 1:14 and in chapter 2. Prayer proceeded the actions of the Spirit. Interesting…If we desire to be a church like the one described in the final verses of Acts 2, prayer, gathering and encouraging are the essential elements necessary for this to occur.
