Jonah pt 4

Chapter 3 brings resolution to the primary storyline of Jonah, bringing fulfillment to God’s word concerning Jonah and Nineveh.

Jonah is a different person than we first saw him. No idea how long from Jonah 1 to Jonah 3. But we see the same instruction from God and completely different outcome from Jonah.

This should bring us great comfort as God does not discard us for our disobedience, there is a way back…

It takes a month or longer to get to Nineveh. Jonah walks 1/3 of the way into the city and begins to preach.

Jeremiah 18:7-8 “There are times, Jeremiah, when I threaten to uproot, tear down, and destroy a nation or kingdom.But if that nation I threatened stops doing wrong, I will cancel the destruction I intended to do to it.”

Isa 49:6 “he says, “Is it too insignificant a task for you to be my servant, to reestablish the tribes of Jacob, and restore the remnant of Israel? I will make you a light to the nations, so you can bring my deliverance to the remote regions of the earth.””
