The Samaritan woman(cont.)

John 4:29–30 NASB95
29 “Come, see a man who told me all the things that I have done; this is not the Christ, is it?” 30 They went out of the city, and were coming to Him.
You love pecan pie, and you eat at a restaurant that serves you the best pecan pie in the world.
How long does it take for you to start telling people about it?
You didn’t have to take a 6 week course on how to share your love of pie.
The Samaritan woman didn’t share her experience with Jesus out of obligation. She did it out of love and amazement.
Are you still amazed by the Gospel?

Jesus is fed.

John 4:31–33 NASB95
31 Meanwhile the disciples were urging Him, saying, “Rabbi, eat.” 32 But He said to them, “I have food to eat that you do not know about.” 33 So the disciples were saying to one another, “No one brought Him anything to eat, did he?”
They weren’t getting it.
How embarrassing was it for John to have to write that he was one of the idiots that asked this question.
John 4:34–38 NASB95
34 Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me and to accomplish His work. 35 “Do you not say, ‘There are yet four months, and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look on the fields, that they are white for harvest. 36 “Already he who reaps is receiving wages and is gathering fruit for life eternal; so that he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together. 37 “For in this case the saying is true, ‘One sows and another reaps.’ 38 “I sent you to reap that for which you have not labored; others have labored and you have entered into their labor.”
You are hungry, and you make the decision, I’m going to stop and eat once I get this much done.
Then you get completely wrapped up in what you are doing, and you’re not hungry in that moment.

The Samaritans

Jonah 2:9 NASB95
9 But I will sacrifice to You With the voice of thanksgiving. That which I have vowed I will pay. Salvation is from the Lord.”
Ephesians 2:8 NASB95
8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God;
Ephesians 2:9 NASB95
9 not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.
We are clear that Salvation is an act of God through Christ.
Romans 10:14–15 NASB95
14 How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher? 15 How will they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news of good things!”
The mechanism of salvation.
John 4:39 NASB95
39 From that city many of the Samaritans believed in Him because of the word of the woman who testified, “He told me all the things that I have done.”
John 4:40–42 NASB95
40 So when the Samaritans came to Jesus, they were asking Him to stay with them; and He stayed there two days. 41 Many more believed because of His word; 42 and they were saying to the woman, “It is no longer because of what you said that we believe, for we have heard for ourselves and know that this One is indeed the Savior of the world.”
Your job is the introduction, not the relationship.
Ive done this.......I have used someone for a service. Electrician, Realtor, or recommended a restaurant.
And then someone goes there or uses that service because of my recommendation, but they don’t have the same experience I did.
I feel bad, but should I? What I am doing is sharing my testimony.
I used this person for this service and this is how it worked out.
Are you still amazed by the Good News of Christ?
Restore to me the Joy of Your Salvation.
You are responsible for your feelings. Nobody can “make you” feel a certain way. You choose that.
When you wake up, you can start
a. Counting problems
b. Counting obligations
c. Counting Blessings.
You go where you look.
2. The harvest is ready.....
In Matthew, Jesus told His disciples that the harvest was plentiful but the workers were few.
3. Focus on the Source not the score.
Hebrews 12:1–3 NASB95
1 Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 For consider Him who has endured such hostility by sinners against Himself, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.
