Two revelations.. Cornelisu peter…
Peters sermon:
God’s Grace
Acts 10:34-35 (ESV)
34 So Peter opened his mouth and said: “Truly I understand that God shows no partiality, 35 but in every nation anyone who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him.
Acts 10:25-26 (ESV)
25 When Peter entered, Cornelius met him and fell down at his feet and worshiped him. 26 But Peter lifted him up, saying, “Stand up; I too am a man.”
I am just a man
Be careful putting men on a throne
Statue-of-St-Peter.. then st peter foot
Jesus preached to the good and the broken hearted
Christianity is for those who live a good life and for those who are broken
Acts 10:27-29 (ESV)
27 And as he talked with him, he went in and found many persons gathered. 28 And he said to them, “You yourselves know how unlawful it is for a Jew to associate with or to visit anyone of another nation, but God has shown me that I should not call any person common or unclean. 29 So when I was sent for, I came without objection. I ask then why you sent for me.”
John 10:16 (ESV)
16 And I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice. So there will be one flock, one shepherd.
Old vs the new
Peter was sure to share the gospel even to Cornelius who on the outside was good and God was certain to make sure that Cornelius heard the gospel as well.
Cornelius represented the other gentiles that where good and wanted to be Jewish.. worship God ..live by a higher standard. .. but they would always still be gentiles.. God sent peter to let them now that this did not matter.
Problem was peter was holding on to the old way of life.?
What ways to we keep God away from others..because we have a religious way, a cultural way, a political way of doing things????
Habbakuk 2 we get a list of things that the world values:
Money, greed, getting new stuff, excessive partying..themselves. when we look at the world in general it believes opposite of what God does.
God’s idea of love is to get your focus off yourself and onto Him and others..
we put all our biasis aside and we give it all away

1 Peter 3:3-4 (ESV)
3 Do not let your adorning be external—the braiding of hair and the putting on of gold jewelry, or the clothing you wear— 4 but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God's sight is very precious.
God’s Gift
Acts 10:36 (ESV)
As for the word that he sent to Israel, preaching good news of peace through Jesus Christ (he is Lord of all),
Acts 10:30-33 (ESV)
30 And Cornelius said, “Four days ago, about this hour, I was praying in my house at the ninth hour and behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing 31 and said, ‘Cornelius, your prayer has been heard and your alms have been remembered before God. 32 Send therefore to Joppa and ask for Simon who is called Peter. He is lodging in the house of Simon, a tanner, by the sea.’ 33 So I sent for you at once, and you have been kind enough to come. Now therefore we are all here in the presence of God to hear all that you have been commanded by the Lord.”
God has a gift for us all and its Jesus!
And through Jesus he connects us to the Father
Gods gift will always be to make a way for those who seek him out
Romans 2:14-15 (ESV)
14 For when Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do what the law requires, they are a law to themselves, even though they do not have the law. 15 They show that the work of the law is written on their hearts, while their conscience also bears witness, and their conflicting thoughts accuse or even excuse them
Prayer:
Said earlier the Cornelius was continually praying.. he was rentless to get to know God and God heard him and answered him..
A. W. Tozer warned, “Prayer among evangelical Christians is always in danger of degenerating into a glorified ‘gold rush’”
1st prayer is Reverent. (worshp)
Psalm 86:12-13 (ESV)
I give thanks to you, O Lord my God, with my whole heart, and I will glorify your name forever.
13 For great is your steadfast love toward me; you have delivered my soul from the depths of Sheol.
2nd prayer is relational.
John 17:20 (ESV)
20 “I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word,
3rd prayer is revealing
A Praying Life by Paul E. Miller. He writes, “Prayer exposes how self-preoccupied we are and uncovers our doubts.” …“Nothing exposes our selfishness and spiritual powerlessness like prayer.”
Hebrews 12:11 (ESV)
11 For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.
4th prayer is restoring
Jeremiah 33:11 (ESV)
“‘Give thanks to the Lord of hosts, for the Lord is good, for his steadfast love endures forever!’ For I will restore the fortunes of the land as at first, says the Lord
5th prayer is responsive John 15:7-8
John 15:7-8 (ESV)
7 If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. 8 By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples.
Service:
Money, time, church
Ruth and her mother in law
Ruth 1:16-17 (ESV)
16 But Ruth said, “Do not urge me to leave you or to return from following you. For where you go I will go, and where you lodge I will lodge. Your people shall be my people, and your God my God. 17 Where you die I will die, and there will I be buried. May the Lord do so to me and more also if anything but death parts me from you.”
God’s Goodness
Acts 10:37-40 (ESV)
37 you yourselves know what happened throughout all Judea, beginning from Galilee after the baptism that John proclaimed: 38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.
Laus.. story. God always has a way of making himself known to people..
God’s Gospel
Acts 10:39-41 (ESV)
39 And we are witnesses of all that he did both in the country of the Jews and in Jerusalem. They put him to death by hanging him on a tree, 40 but God raised him on the third day and made him to appear, 41 not to all the people but to us who had been chosen by God as witnesses, who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead.
Acts 2:24 (ESV)
24 God raised him up, loosing the pangs of death, because it was not possible for him to be held by it.
We too are witnesses of God’s grace, gift and goodness in his Gospel.. everyday we get to say let me tell you what God did today! How He is working in my life..

Gods Gathering
Acts 10:42-43 (ESV)
42 And he commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that he is the one appointed by God to be judge of the living and the dead. 43 To him all the prophets bear witness that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.”
1 Corinthians 9:19-23 (ESV)
19 For though I am free from all, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win more of them. 20 To the Jews I became as a Jew, in order to win Jews. To those under the law I became as one under the law (though not being myself under the law) that I might win those under the law. 21 To those outside the law I became as one outside the law (not being outside the law of God but under the law of Christ) that I might win those outside the law. 22 To the weak I became weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all people, that by all means I might save some. 23 I do it all for the sake of the gospel, that I may share with them in its blessings.
5 times paul says he wants to win..
Win people to Christ
Verse 19: "that I might win the more." Verse 20: " that I might win the Jews . . . that I might win those under the law." Verse 21: "That I might win those who are without law." Verse 22: "That I might win the weak."
verse 22 in his summary statement he says, "I have become all things to all men, that I may by all means save some."
R.H. Lenski says it means. Paul is saying, "If I omit this concern of love for others, although through my work, devoid of such love, many others may be saved, yet I myself would not be saved."
Pauls strategy to save others to bring them to Jesus is the same as Jesus was.. to meet people right where they are and love them
Galatians 5:13 (ESV)
For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.
God’s Glory
Acts 10:44-48 (ESV)
44 While Peter was still saying these things, the Holy Spirit fell on all who heard the word. 45 And the believers from among the circumcised who had come with Peter were amazed, because the gift of the Holy Spirit was poured out even on the Gentiles. 46 For they were hearing them speaking in tongues and extolling God. Then Peter declared, 47 “Can anyone withhold water for baptizing these people, who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?” 48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked him to remain for some days.
So will you be obedient and share the Gospel knowing this is your true North its your direction..that if you are a follower of Jesus you are called ot share him with the world!!!
Awaken us God may your holy spirit
Acts 10:34-43 (ESV)
34 So Peter opened his mouth and said: “Truly I understand that God shows no partiality, 35 but in every nation anyone who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him. 36 As for the word that he sent to Israel, preaching good news of peace through Jesus Christ (he is Lord of all), 37 you yourselves know what happened throughout all Judea, beginning from Galilee after the baptism that John proclaimed: 38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power.
