Sperio Mark 4:1 And he began again to teach by the sea side: and there was gathered unto him a great multitude, so that he entered into a ship, and sat in the sea; and the whole multitude was by the sea on the land. 2 And he taught them many things by parables, and said unto them in his doctrine, 3 Hearken; Behold, there went out a sower to sow:

To begin with Jesus used parables to teach us. In fact when it was something deep deep deep Jesus oftentimes used parables to teach the lesson. And exactly how did Jesus do that? Jesus taught us by using stories of everyday life to illustrate spiritual, moral, and ethical truths. The stories are called parables and the word parable in the Greek Vernacular is the word “parabole” meaning a placing besides or comparison to something or someone or some place.

And for the record a parable have limitless interpretations. Jesus presents the word in such a way that every person in here see themselves in the text.

And when you see yourself you either accept or reject what you see of yourself. Each individual has got to see themselves in the text and make changes about themselves.

And so the story goes that Jesus uses Peter boat as a pulpit and the geography of the landscape was that Jesus was in a boat and the people were on land. On this shallow lake at this time the waters were calm and placid still and quiet because the Master is about to teach, talk, and tell the folk on land some great truths to live by.

And the bible in verses 3 &4 says that Jesus began to teach 3 Hearken; Behold, there went out a sower to sow: 4 And it came to pass, as he sowed, some fell by the way side, and the fowls of the air came and devoured it up. Jesus said that a farmer went out to sow his seed. Some fell along the path, and birds came and ate it all up. I asked the question why was the farmer haphazardly just throwing seeds out there, scattering seeds randomly and I found out that for some folk that’s the way they see things. Because the word seed is the word Sperio (Sparrow). Sperio carries the idea of extending and scattering either literally or figuratively to receive seed.

And then Jesus explains what it literally means . Look at verses 14 &15 14 The sower soweth the word. 15 And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; but when they have heard, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts. briefly let’s unpack these few verses The Farmer sows the Word. Everybody say the Farmer sows the Word. Listen nah Jesus is the Farmer who sows who Sparrows the Word instead of seeds. And Jesus’ teachings are met with many obstacles. And as we look at ourselves a lot of Jesus’ words are oftentimes ignored, or misunderstood, or even abandoned because of modern day temptations of material things.

And with the multi-media influences on modern society mankind have other options other than the bible, or the God of our Holy Bible.. We oftentimes dismiss biblical truths base on carnal societal norms. I know I’m right about it. I watch TV, Cable, Internet, snap chat, Intagram, Facebook,

and I see so much stuff that isn’t bible related until if Jesus came back right now He’d give us a sally good whipping before he let us in heaven.

One of my thesis statements is about the Hardness of the Heart . The Hardness of the Heart is a problem. In the text, the only reason why the seeds that the farmer is sowing isn’t working is, because the enemy is allowed to come and take that precious word away from you before it can even be effective.

That’s when San would say “Say it ain’t so Rev.” Brothers and sisters you can’t afford to let Satan come steal the word of God away from you because you may have indifferent thoughts about the word of God anyway. And consider this, if Satan can come and immediately take the word from you and so easily take God’s word from you, then you have to ask yourself am I truly converted?

Have I truly had an authentic change of lifestyle. Conversion is a change of my lifestyle choices. A further literal analysis reveals that the commonly used seeds were Barley, Wheat, and Millet and the Hebrew people baked flat bread and this was a staple signature dish in their diet.

Teach Me Pastor. So the crowd or the multitude fully understood the seeds that were sown but not the deeper interpretation by Jesus.

And before we go to the next type of seeds being sown in the text consider this. A parable is an expression of a story about everyday life that has endless meanings. And from the elementary student to the middle school student to the high school student to the college student to the Master’s level student to the Master’s plus 30 student the PHD and Doctorate level student to the Rogue Scholar and to the Genius Master mind these parables can teach and minister to your soul.

God’s word is Superior to everything. So everybody need God’s word nobody is above it nor exempt from it. And so with that construct of mind here’s the second illustration that Jesus taught in this parable. In verses 5 &6 let see what Jesus says 5 And some fell on stony ground, where it had not much earth; and immediately it sprang up, because it had no depth of earth: 6 But when the sun was up, it was scorched; and because it had no root, it withered away.

The second thesis statement is about the Emotional Hearer’s. And Jesus says in verses 16 & 17 Others are like the seed planted on rocky ground. They hear the teaching and quickly accept it with joy. 17 But since they don’t allow the teaching to go deep into their lives, they keep it only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the teaching they accepted, they quickly give up.

I like good emotional teaching and preaching but the only problem with that is when something in the word doesn’t set right with the Emotional Hearer, they go to pouting like a little child. They heard the word and accepted the word of God with Joy. They even shouted Glory to God for the word but they don’t let the word go deep into their hearts.

And the problem with that is some Christians can come to church Sunday after Sunday and as long as that word doesn’t offend them they’re good.

And let me be the first to confess that something every week offends me in the word of God. And I still teach and preach what Jesus said.

Jesus has a multitude of people standing on the seashore listening to His words as the fall from His lips like precious pearls. Jesus’ words were like the fresh dew from the Mount Hermon. Jesus was truthful, tactical, and surgical. The late great Samuel Singleton said I didn’t come here to pick on nobody but I sure don’t want to leave nobody out either.

Let’s look at the next scenario in the story . Mark 4:7 And some fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up, and choked it, and it yielded no fruit. The bible says some seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants so much so that they did not bear grain.

What an awful plight. That stuff matters that much to you? Let’s look at what Jesus says to His Disciples after the crowd is gone.Look at verses 18 &19 Others are like the seed planted among the thorny weeds.

Tell your neighbor: “Get out them weeds”

They hear good teaching, but verse 19 says “but the worries of this life, the temptation of wealth, and many other evil desires keep the teaching from growing and producing fruit in their lives.
In other words that stuff matters that much to you. Don’t let the cares of this world choke the word of God right out of your life.

We can infer through this text that Jesus is talking to many different type of personalities that are represented out in that crowd.and just before we present the last scenario look at verses 11 &12 I’d like to point out what Jesus knew before He taught the sermon from Peter’s Boat.Mark 4:11 Jesus said, “You can know the secret about the kingdom of God. But to other people I tell everything by using stories 12 so that: ‘They will look and look, but they will not learn. They will listen and listen, but they will not understand. If they did learn and understand, they would come back to me and be forgiven.’ ” Wow 2x that’s a wow moment. I found out where Jesus gets this scripture from It’s in Isaiah 6:8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me. 9 And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not;And see ye indeed, but perceive not. 10 Make the heart of this people fat, And make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes;Lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, And understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed.

Church God doesn’t not hold me for results but He holds me for duty”. In other words If I report to duty and rightly divide the word of truth where everybody ought to understand it then I’ve done what God told you to do. Because people are going to do what they want to do.

Yeah 3x You can do whatever you want because you have Free Will and and and God will respect your choices. And the last scenario in the text is the farmer sowing good seeds. The Farmer is Jesus the Christ. Look at Mark 4:8 And other fell on good ground, and did yield fruit that sprang up and increased; and brought forth, some thirty, and some sixty, and some an hundred. 9 And Jesus said unto them, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear. In other words some seeds were sown on good ground in good soil and they produce a crop some 30 some 60 and some 100 times more than what was sown in the first place.

Listen well, the formula is I know if I give what God says to give even if it’s more than I can afford right now, God will honor my sacrifice. And God will respect my choices.

God will get me out of the debt that I got myself in. And get me out of the crisis that I made for myself. and let me have favor so I can finish victoriously.

I know that my requests for you to be godly obedient concerning your giving may be more difficult than you’re use of, but obedience is better than sacrifice.

After doing too many some wrong things too many times, I hit a lot of brick walls and my hard head hurt, and and and I got education. Education is when you either learn from your mistakes or God makes you repeat the situation again and again.

And listen any good teacher knows that if the students have stolen my final exam and they think they have gotten away with it, I always had test “B” ready to go with the same material in it all switched around.

And so likewise with God, He has tests ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYANDZ versions of the same test until you get it. I was hitting that brick wall over and over again, until I said ok Lord I will be obedient. I’ll pay my true tithes.

And as a result Now doors have been opened that was closed in my face, opportunities have been presented that I was black balled from. All because I realized that it’s better to have obedience than to have to sacrifice unnecessary consequences for wrong decisions.

And so as I close keep in mind that Jesus preached this sermon to a wide variety of different kinds of people to reach everyone in the audience. And today this Sermon teaches us a valuable lesson on sowing and reaping. You must prepare the ground for the seed. You must prepare the proper seed to go in the ground. You must cultivate the seed by watering it when it needs it and then You must be ready when the harvest comes so you can receive the fruit of your labor. Lastly if it’s in the root it’ll be in the fruit.
