What are some names or ways the Bible uses to refer to the Holy Spirit?
Who is He?
The Spirit is a person of the Trinity, fully divine and powerful just like the Father and Son.
Not a force, but fully God.
There are many things that the Spirit does:
Governs creation and history
Creator
Revealer
Tonight we are going to look more specifically at how He works to make God known and leads people to truth.
John 6:7-15
V. 7-
He is the Helper sent to the church by Christ
V. 8-11
The Spirit has come and is convicting the world of three things:
Sin- What sin is, and the reality of our standing before God
Righteousness- The righteousness of Jesus and how the only way to be made right with God is by Him.
Judgement- The destruction of this world and all who still belong to it.
V. 12-15
It is the Spirit who led the apostles to write and reveals God to us through His Word.
It is also the Spirit who reveals God to us now and helps us understand His Word.
This is why the message of Cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, because the cross only makes sense to those who the Spirit has taken hold of and changed.
