Text: Matthew 21:23-32

Verse 23

Who were the chief priests and elders?

by what authority?

these things (everything before)

trying to trap him

his options

If he says from God, they can accuse him of blasphemy

If he says from man, they can say, “We are the human authorities”

Verse 24-26

answer me first then i will answer

baptism of John from God or from man?

if they say from God

they affirm Jesus as Messiah because John said Jesus was Messiah (John 1:29-34)

If they deny, they tell the whole crowd that basically John was a false prophet (Deut. 18:20-22)
