Many times this part in scripture focuses on the woman and the little girl and pays little attention to what Jairus did and why it’s relevant.
We will look at the miracles Jesus preformed but also the relevance of what the father, Jairus, did.
Scene opens with Jesus landing back on the shores near Capernaum.
Jairus is a leader in the synagogue near Capernaum - a man who had authority and status among the Jews.
Bows before Jesus - Acknowledges Jesus’ authority
Begs Jesus to heal his daughter before she dies
Willing to be humiliated before the crowds for the sake of his daughter
An unnamed woman steps out in faith
Her “disease” would have made her an outcast
She is “thronged” by people in the attempt to seek healing from Jesus
Her faith leads to her healing
Jairus, on his way home, is informed that his daughter is dead and to leave Jesus alone.
Jesus tells him to not fear, only believe
Upon arrival there are mourners at the home and Jesus instructs them to not mourn.
