Being Kind Part 2

last month

kindness doesn’t look like what the world calls kindness

we love and care for people even if the world calls that hate

Kindness is

humility and grace acted out

last time we looked at Jesus washing the disciples feet

this time going over again a passage from last night

a story Cody brought up

Matthew 16

take up your cross and follow me

to follow Jesus is a big task

but even just a piece of that requires all of this

can you be kind if you don’t deny yourself?

1 Sam 25

Luke 18

which one is justified or righteous?

which one do you really want to be your friend?

the one who knows only their self or the one who looks outside their self?

Application

kindness requires you to think and act outside of your self

I cannot be kind if I am self concerned

if in trying to show kindness I preserve myself then what I am doing is still in some way about me and is as much self aggrandizement as it is service
