When we think of Bible prophecy we often think of the end of the Bible not the beginning. However Genesis is a book of prophecy. Look at the 1st ever prophecy recorded in the pages of Scripture. Gen 3:15-16
Genesis 3:15 CSB
I will put hostility between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring. He will strike your head, and you will strike his heel.
This is the first prophecy and it deals with the coming of Jesus. Theologians and biblical scholars call it the Proto-evangelium
Genesis means beginning and you see at the beginning we are told about the ending.
It is said that Jesus is our Prophet, Priest, and King.
Biblical Prophecy was thought to be poetic.

Prophecy about Priests:

Levi and his offspring will struggle with anger.
Pastor’s and Church leaders can have this same struggle today.
The rise and fall of Mar’s Hill…
Moses was not aloud to enter the promised land. why because of his anger. He was the most humble man to ever live but he had anger.
Numbers 12:3 CSB
Moses was a very humble man, more so than anyone on the face of the earth.
Numbers 20:10–13 CSB
Moses and Aaron summoned the assembly in front of the rock, and Moses said to them, “Listen, you rebels! Must we bring water out of this rock for you?” Then Moses raised his hand and struck the rock twice with his staff, so that abundant water gushed out, and the community and their livestock drank. But the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, “Because you did not trust me to demonstrate my holiness in the sight of the Israelites, you will not bring this assembly into the land I have given them.” These are the Waters of Meribah, where the Israelites quarreled with the Lord, and he demonstrated his holiness to them.
He was told to speak to the rock and it yelled at the people and struck the rock.
Sometimes we get angry when others in church do not live for the Lord the way that we think they should. But we should remember the Lord is the one who judges them and not us.
Moses even killed someone right out of the gate. He may have choked him.
The anger of the priest and Levites were responsible for killing Jesus.
Simeon had to live among the tribe of Judah and did not have their own tribal allotment.
The Levites were scattered as well because they were to serve the Lord among the tribes their inheritance was the Lord.

Prophecy about Kings:

Judah means praise. Eventually all praise will go to Jesus.
When you read the Old Testament, The Law of Moses, Joshua, and Judges you can see that Ephraim early on was the most dominant tribe.
The early leaders were all from other tribes. Moses from Levi, Joshua from Ephraim, Gideon from Manasseh, Samson from Dan, Samuel form Ephraim, and Saul from Benjamin.
but in the book of 1 Samuel there is a rising in the House of Judah. These rising is hinted at in the book of Ruth but here too.
Such a great rise that the people of Isreal to this day are known as Jews a name which comes from Judah.
Verse 8: Your brothers will praise you.
What do Christians call each other? Brothers and sisters. Truly the brothers praise you Judah and your offspring Jesus Christ.
Verse 8: Your hand will be on the neck of your enemies.
Matthew 16:18 CSB
And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overpower it.
Hebrews 1:13 CSB
Now to which of the angels has he ever said: Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies your footstool?
1 Corinthians 15:24–27 CSB
Then comes the end, when he hands over the kingdom to God the Father, when he abolishes all rule and all authority and power. For he must reign until he puts all his enemies under his feet. The last enemy to be abolished is death. For God has put everything under his feet. Now when it says “everything” is put under him, it is obvious that he who puts everything under him is the exception.
Here is your encouraging word for the day. Jesus defeats all your enemies. I am not talking about the people you can’t get along with at work or your ex or the kid who bullied you when you were a child. I am talking about the big ones. Sin, Hell, and even Death. Those are the enemies you can’t take on by yourself and those are the very enemies that Jesus defeated for you.
Verse 9: David kill Lions and Lion like men. He become like a lion himself.
Revelation 5:5 CSB
Then one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep. Look, the Lion from the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has conquered so that he is able to open the scroll and its seven seals.”
Jesus at the Resurrection roared to victory.
(verse 10) The Scepter will not depart.
Hebrews 1:8–9 CSB
but to the Son: Your throne, God, is forever and ever, and the scepter of your kingdom is a scepter of justice. You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness; this is why God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of joy beyond your companions.
Verse 10: Shilo means the one who brings peace. Who is the Prince of Peace?= (LXX) util He comes unto whom it belongs.
The obedience of the peoples verse 10.
Philippians 2:10–11 CSB
so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow— in heaven and on earth and under the earth— and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
what a foreshadowing of how the blessing of the Messiah will be brought to the Gentiles.
Jesus Christ the 2nd and greater David.
If Jacob only knew that true wonder of what he was saying.
I can’t wait to see his face on that day when Jesus returns on a white horse and makes the nations prove the glories of his righteous and wonders of His love.
When every knee bows they will say then that truly the scepter shall not depart for Judea and to Him shall the obedience of the people be. Even Judah himself will be obedient and bow in reverence on that day to his offspring Jesus Christ who saved his soul from eternal damnation.
Verses 11 He ties his donkey to the vine = abundance and prosperity. So many vines that they are tying donkeys to them. The Messiah will being prosperity.
Verse 11 He washes His clothes in wine and his robes in the blood of grapes.
Isaiah 63:3 (CSB)
I trampled the winepress alone, and no one from the nations was with me. I trampled them in my anger and ground them underfoot in my fury; their blood spattered my garments, and all my clothes were stained.
all of chapter 63 and 34 of Isaiah. Jesus comes to bring judgement.
The Cup is the new covenant in my blood…
1 Peter 1:18–19 CSB
For you know that you were redeemed from your empty way of life inherited from your ancestors, not with perishable things like silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of an unblemished and spotless lamb.
Verse 12 Eyes like the color of wine! not dull with wine.
Revelation 1:14 CSB
The hair of his head was white as wool—white as snow—and his eyes like a fiery flame.
Verses 11 & 12 his teeth are whiter than milk.
Isaiah 1:18 CSB
“Come, let’s settle this,” says the Lord. “Though your sins are scarlet, they will be as white as snow; though they are crimson red, they will be like wool.
Psalm 51:7 CSB
Purify me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.
Revelation 7:14 CSB
I said to him, “Sir, you know.” Then he told me: These are the ones coming out of the great tribulation. They washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
Jesus is our Perfect Priest and our Eternal King.
He is a priest who is patent with us and he is a King who defeats all our enemies.
