Who Lives in the Unseen Realm?

Holy Ones
Psalm 89:5-7 “The heavens will praise Your wonders, Lord; Your faithfulness also in the assembly of the holy ones. For who in the skies is comparable to the Lord? Who among the sons of the mighty is like the Lord, A God greatly feared in the council of the holy ones, And awesome above all those who are around Him?”
Job 15:15 ““Behold, He has no trust in His holy ones, And the heavens are not pure in His sight;”
Spirits - 1 Kings 22:19-21 “And Micaiah said, “Therefore, hear the word of the Lord. I saw the Lord sitting on His throne, and all the angels of heaven standing by Him on His right and on His left. And the Lord said, ‘Who will entice Ahab to go up and fall at Ramoth-gilead?’ And one spirit said this, while another said that. Then a spirit came forward and stood before the Lord, and said, ‘I will entice him.’”
3. Stars - Job 38:5-7 “Who set its measurements? Since you know. Or who stretched the measuring line over it? “On what were its bases sunk? Or who laid its cornerstone, When the morning stars sang together And all the sons of God shouted for joy?”
4. Gods/Divine Beings -
a. Psalm 82:1-2 “God takes His position in His assembly; He judges in the midst of the gods. How long will you judge unjustly And show partiality to the wicked? Selah”
b. 1 Samuel 28:13 “But the king said to her, “Do not be afraid; but what do you see?” And the woman said to Saul, “I see a divine being coming up from the earth.””
5. Angel
a. Gen 28:12 “And he had a dream, and behold, a ladder was set up on the earth with its top reaching to heaven; and behold, the angels of God were ascending and descending on it.”
b. Job 4:17-18 “‘Can mankind be righteous before God? Can a man be pure before his Maker? ‘He puts no trust even in His servants; And He accuses His angels of error.”
6. Watcher - Daniel 4:13 “‘I was looking in the visions in my mind as I lay on my bed, and behold, an angelic watcher, a holy one, descended from heaven.”
7. Seraphim- Isaiah 6:2 “Seraphim were standing above Him, each having six wings: with two each covered his face, and with two each covered his feet, and with two each flew.”
8. Cherubim-
a. Ezekiel 10:1-3 “Then I looked, and behold, in the expanse that was over the heads of the cherubim something like a sapphire stone, in appearance resembling a throne, appeared above them. And He spoke to the man clothed in linen and said, “Enter between the whirling wheels under the cherubim and fill your hands with coals of fire from between the cherubim, and scatter them over the city.” And he entered in my sight. Now the cherubim were standing on the right side of the temple when the man entered, and the cloud filled the inner courtyard.”
b. Ezekiel 28:14 ““You were the anointed cherub who covers, And I placed you there. You were on the holy mountain of God; You walked in the midst of the stones of fire.”
9. Rephaim
a. The English Standard Version renders rĕpāʾîm as “giants,” “shades” (meaning “spirits of the dead”), or “the dead,” depending on context. This variation in translation highlights the main interpretive difficulty surrounding the term: were the Rephaim humans (whether living or dead), quasi-divine beings, or disembodied spirits?
10. Nephilim - Genesis 6:1-4 “Now it came about, when mankind began to multiply on the face of the land, and daughters were born to them, that the sons of God saw that the daughters of mankind were beautiful; and they took wives for themselves, whomever they chose. Then the Lord said, “My Spirit will not remain with man forever, because he is also flesh; nevertheless his days shall be 120 years.” The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of mankind, and they bore children to them. Those were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown.”
11. Demons - disembodiesd spirits of the Nephilim.
12. Territorial Spirits/Prince/Rulers/dominions/thrones
a. Deut 32:8 ““When the Most High gave the nations their inheritance, When He separated the sons of mankind, He set the boundaries of the peoples According to the number of the sons of God.”
b. Dan 10:13 “But the prince of the kingdom of Persia was standing in my way for twenty-one days; then behold, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I had been left there with the kings of Persia.”
c. Ephesians 6:10-13 “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist on the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.”

Myth Creatures

Why Fallen Angels Are Not Demons

Demons: What the Bible Really Says about the Powers of Darkness (“Demons Are Fallen Angels”)
This notion is ubiquitous in popular Christian books and preaching. It is both on target and misguided. The statement fails to account for a number of items in the biblical text and the development of biblical thought about the powers of darkness. - Michael Heiser
when the angels fell, they turned into demons
Different classes of demons
every evil creature is just a different kind of demon
there are only angels and demons
But as we just looked at above, that clearly cannot be the case. There are so many more beings and things are way more complex.
We cannot simply say that demons are fallen angels and fallen angels are demons, but where did that kind of thinking come from? It came from an incorrect interpretation of a particular passage.. let’s look at it.

Where it began… at least in my opionion

Revelation 12:1-10 “A great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars; and she was pregnant and she cried out, being in labor and in pain to give birth. Then another sign appeared in heaven: and behold, a great red dragon having seven heads and ten horns, and on his heads were seven crowns. And his tail swept away a third of the stars of heaven and hurled them to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman who was about to give birth, so that when she gave birth he might devour her Child. And she gave birth to a Son, a male, who is going to rule all the nations with a rod of iron; and her Child was caught up to God and to His throne. Then the woman fled into the wilderness where she had a place prepared by God, so that there she would be nourished for 1,260 days. And there was war in heaven, Michael and his angels waging war with the dragon. The dragon and his angels waged war, and they did not prevail, and there was no…” \
let’s talk about some basic Bible study for a second..
you cant just take a text out of the bible and then deduce what it means. CONTEXT IS KING!
Nowhere in this text does it speak about a primordial war.
I know that we want it to mean that because as people, we need to have the answer.. we need to be right.
This is how church tradition began to take over and biblical study and interpretation took a back seat. The theory began to become so doctrinally set, engrained in Christian thinking that it became truth, common knowledge.
it came to commonly understood amongst most that fallen angels are demons and demons are fallen angels
Demons: What the Bible Really Says about the Powers of Darkness “Satan Rebelled before the Creation of Humankind and Took a Third of the Angels with Him”

I say that this passage is “presumably” about one-third of God’s heavenly host being fallen because it is not clear that the “third of the stars” swept down by the dragon (serpent/Satan) refers to the angels who already are assisting the devil. It could well be that the one-third are good angels who have been defeated by the dragon. There are good reasons to take that position, namely, that Revelation 12:4 appears to be the fulfillment of Daniel 8:10. For the purposes of this discussion, though, we will presume that this third refers to evil supernatural agents in league with Satan.

The passage is clear that the timing of this conflict involving a third of the angels occurred in conjunction with the first coming of the Messiah:

And the dragon stood before the woman who was about to give birth, so that when she bore her child he might devour it. She gave birth to a male child, one who is to rule all the nations with a rod of iron, but her child was caught up to God and to his throne. (Rev 12:4–5)

The birth of the Messiah is clearly in view, as Revelation 12:5 points readers to the messianic theme of Psalm 2:8–9:

Ask of me, and I will make the nations your heritage,

and the ends of the earth your possession.

You shall break them with a rod of iron

and dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.

The reference to the child born to rule the nations as being “caught up to God and to his throne” is an explicit reference to the resurrection and ascension—the key events that result in the defeat of Satan and the inauguration of the kingdom of God on earth. Scores of scholars recognize this point. Beale is representative:

The destiny of the Christ-child is described in an allusion to Ps. 2:7–9, which prophesies that God’s Son will defeat all worldly enemies and then be enthroned as ruler over the earth. In fact, Christ is referred to as a “male son” to show that he is the initial fulfillment of the Psalm, which is the decisive event for the successful growth of the church. The last clause, referring to Christ’s ascent, implies that the Ps. 2:7–9 prophecy about God’s messianic Son has begun to be fulfilled.… In context, this initial fulfillment means that, as in ancient times, so again the dragon has been defeated. This time the defeat has occurred through the resurrection and ascent of Christ.

The first advent context continues into Revelation 12:13–17:

13 And when the dragon saw that he had been thrown down to the earth, he pursued the woman who had given birth to the male child. 14 But the woman was given the two wings of the great eagle so that she might fly from the serpent into the wilderness, to the place where she is to be nourished for a time, and times, and half a time. 15 The serpent poured water like a river out of his mouth after the woman, to sweep her away with a flood. 16 But the earth came to the help of the woman, and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed the river that the dragon had poured from his mouth. 17 Then the dragon became furious with the woman and went off to make war on the rest of her offspring, on those who keep the commandments of God and hold to the testimony of Jesus. And he stood on the sand of the sea.

The wording of verse 17 is as clear an association of the vision to the first coming of Jesus as the earlier citation of Psalm 2: “Then the dragon became furious with the woman and went off to make war on the rest of her offspring, on those who keep the commandments of God and hold to the testimony of Jesus.” This simply cannot be construed as describing a primeval rebellion prior to the creation of humanity in Eden. Since there is no other passage in the Bible that uses the “third” language in conjunction with a satanic conflict, the idea that Satan and one-third of the angels rebelled at that time is a traditional myth.

Now, don’t get me wrong, there was a rebellion, there have been many divine rebellions throughout history where the devil manipulated and deceived and caused who knows how many angels to join. him.
In Matthew 25:41 ““Then He will also say to those on His left, ‘Depart from Me, you accursed people, into the eternal fire which has been prepared for the devil and his angels;”
So it is clear that he has angels and the Bible also says that he is the “god of this world” and that he is the king of the realm of darkness. For him to enlist a a league of beings to follow him, that had to happen and maybe it still is happening. We looked at all of the creatures a few minutes ago and so I am sure he has a crazy army of followers. But this didnt happen in Revelation 12. And so we need to stop saying that and stop putting church tradition ahead of what the Bible is actually saying, simply because it is easier to do so.
These angels are not and were not the demons that we see in the NT. They are not the same. They may be on the same team, so to speak, but they are the same being. They are also not a different class of demon. Just because something is demonic doesnt mean it is a demon. The term demonic speaks of somethng that is evil, malevolent, something that is anti-god.
For example, last week I posted an instagram video of this “pastor” talking about how being “Drag is Holy” and how God is drag and that as Christians we are drag and blah blah blah.. That is utter blashpemy and demonic but that doesnt mean that he was a demon. They are similar terms but not exactly the same.

Origin of demons.

So now in terms of the nature and origins of demons, I am not going to go into everything i went into last week. You can go back and listen to it. But I will quickly sumariize for the sake of context sake in case you didnt hear the episode.
Here is a quote from Dr. Michael Heiser from his book, entitles, “Demons”..
Nevertheless, demons are consistently cast as disembodied spirits of dead Nephilim and their giant-clan descendants. Those spirits are the offspring of the angels that sinned before the flood, so the demons cannot be those fallen angels.
Michael S. Heiser
In Genesis 6 we looked at how the sons God, came to earth and mated with human women and that their offspring produced these hybrid creatures.. half divne and half human. giants. These were the heros of old, the heros that Greek, Roman, and basically all ancient mythologies. And so when God came and brought the flood and wiped out the earth and humanity and all of the Nephilim, their spirits were left. Or as several scholars point refere to them as the disembodied spirits of the nephilim. They were left oaming the earth causing havoc. In fact one scholar argues that they are the errand boys for the Sons of God that fell and mated with human women. We read in
2 Peter 2:4 “For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but cast them into hell and committed them to pits of darkness, held for judgment;” sp the nehilim are the offspring of them, their kids, so this scholar argues that they are still doing the bidding of their parents who are trapped.
But these disembodied spirits are not angels, they are not fallen angels, they are spirits of the nephilim and this is why they also possess people and animals etc, because they still have human cravings that they cannot satisgy without a host body.
So these are demons. completely distinct and separate from fallen angels.

So what is the point?

I got this questions alot. How does talking about these things help us in our walk with Jesus? How does it grow our relationship? What is the point?
Hosea 4:6 “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge...”
I think it should our responsibility as Christians to understand as best we can, given our resources to dive as deep into the mind of the authors and audience of the text that we can. We should strive as best we can to put our 21st Century mindset aside and adopt the mindset of the biblical world. When we do that, as I hope that you are seeing from these last two episodes and going forward, you are going to see that there is so much more going on in the bible than we know.
