The God That Always Is

Good morning and welcome to CCC. Wasn’t Nolan’s testimony refreshing and encouraging. God is so good to us. I pray you do not wait to allow God to reignite your joy and to return you to the eyes of a child!

This morning we are continuing with our The God That series with the message The God That Always Is

Exodus 3:14-15

“And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you. And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, The Lord God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations.”

I AM THAT I AM

In the Hebrew this phrase it broken down into 2 parts. I AM and That

I AM comes from a Hebrew word that means to be, become, come to pass, exist

THAT comes from a Hebrew word that means which or who

This points to the eternal aspect of God.

He was

He is

He will always be

We see in Genesis 1:1 In the beginning

In John 1:1 again In the beginning

My mind can’t comprehend a God who always has been

How did He come to be?

Who or what created Him?

When was He created?

How?

I don’t know

I don’t believe my human mind will ever comprehend it but I do know that I fully believe it

I don’t understand it but I fully believe it

Revelation 1:8

“I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.”

Again, in my humanness I can’t truly grasp this but I fully believe it

I want to stop for a few moments because today’s Christian, especially Western Christians have lost the true meaning of faith

Hebrews 11:1

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

The substance comes from a Greek word meaning setting under, concretely, essence

of things hoped for comes from a Greek word that means hope, trust, to expect, confide

the evidence comes from a Greek word that means proof, conviction, evidence

Faith is setting under concretely of hope, trust, expectations of proof and conviction of things not seen.

Faith is not human

Faith goes against all conventional and worldly thinking and knowledge and wisdom

To non-Christians it is foolishness

I Corinthians 1:18

“For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.”

Faith is foolishness to the lost

In fact in many churches all across America faith is foolishness

Why

Because people don’t want the healer they just want the healing

They don’t want the deliverer they just want the delivering

Faith requires Jesus and the Holy Spirit.

Jesus doesn’t care about your works He cares about your heart and your true relationship with Him

How does one obtain faith then?

Romans 10:17

“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”

Hearing.

Being in places where the gospel is proclaimed

This should be in every pulpit every Sunday but it is not

Most hardly ever proclaim the gospel message

Most hide from the truth of God and His teachings

Mos hide from the fact that Jesus is the only way to salvation and heaven and God

Most churches today preach a wordly gospel that doesn’t and can’t save

We believe here at CCC that we proclaim the gospel in everything we do so you hear

However many who hear miss the 2nd part Word of God

You may attend Sunday School and church every Sunday

You may even attend a Bible study during the week but you rarely if ever truly study the Word of God on your own

Then you struggle with your faith and blame the church

you blame others

You blame God

you blame everyone but yourself where the blame belongs

Why do I say all of that? Because without faith it doesn’t matter that God Always Is

Without faith you’ll never truly believe God was and is and always will be

You must have faith

We have looked at two scriptures that speak to God’s eternal being

Always is

Always was

Always will be

Exodus 3:14-15 speaks to His eternal being

His being a generational God

Always has been

Always is

Always will be

God of Abraham

God of Isaac

God of Jacob

This message this morning is actually the second sermon of the week. In the 1st message I focused on scriptures that point to always was always is and always will be

Those are important but not what God wanted me to focus on this morning

Instead of focusing on the fact....the absolute truth…that God always was, is and always will be I felt God leading me to talk about what that means to you....His children....or to those who are lost but being called to God by His Holy Spirit to become His child

First and foremost the Bible and all of the promises contained in it are for God’s children.

There is a worldly phrase that says we are all God’s children

That is a false statement, I don’t care that many in the church use it it is false

Only those who have accepted Jesus are God’s Children

I want to go here for a few moments

We are all God’s creation but not all God’s children

Colossians 1:16

“For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:”

Very clear here that all things are God’s creation

John 3:16

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

Again very clear that God loves everyone

But not everyone is God’s child. Neither of these scriptures point to being God’s child either at creation or just because God loves you

There are many scriptures that do point to becoming God’s child but I felt lead to this one

Ephesians 2:1-3

“And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.”

This scripture clearly shows you are either a child of disobedience.....walking according to the prince of the power of the air…satan....that is exactly who we are before Jesus by the way or

Once you have accepted Jesus you are now a child of God

If you havent accepted Jesus you are still a child of satan and the world and a product of your lust and desires and sin

Again why say all of that and how does that related to the God That Always Is?

Because if you have not accepted Jesus

If you are not a child of God

It doesn’t matter for you

It is your personal relationship with Jesus that makes you a child of God

Once you are a child of God that means all of God’s Word and all of God’s promises are for you

For all eternity....always has....are currently and always will be

Since that is all true…absolute truth....what should our faith....our lives.....our walk in Christ look and sound like?

If God always is…always was…and always will be then what effect should that have on us?

You never have to guess what you need to do

“Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines. For it is a good thing that the heart be established with grace; not with meats, which have not profited them that have been occupied therein.”

God Never Changes

God gave you and me His Word so we can know His character

His Truth…absolute truth never changes and God’s truth is absolute

Let me give you an example turn to

Romans 8:28

“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”

This scripture is always true

It doesn’t matter if you are doing well or dying of cancer

It doesn’t matter if you are doing well financially or going through bankruptcy

It doesn’t matter if your marriage is pleasing to God or in divorce court

It doesn’t matter what is happening around you.....your feelings about things don’t matter

God’s truth is still true

He will work it for your good.

Going home to heaven is your best....that is the goal of this life.....find Jesus.....love Jesus....live from Jesus....Shine the light of Jesus.....and one day wake up in Jesus’ presence in heaven!

Until that day being able to have Faith God is who He says He is and living that way brings God glory and is for your good

No matter the circumstance

No matter the situation

No matter the hurt

No matter the suffering

No matter the anger

No matter the persecution

No matter the feelings

God always is so you have peace knowing God is working all things, even the painful, hurtful, unfair things for your good

God Always Provides

“But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”

This is cool stuff right here

Supply all your need.

ALL every bit of it

Better than you could ever imagine

If this was the only promise outside of salvation it would be enough.....ALL YOUR NEED!

Think of all that you need

Peace

Encouragement

Security

Love

Support

Guidance

Just to name a few....all your need met....so cool

Not only all need but look at how He meets them

according to the His riches in glory of Christ Jesus

The provision will never run out!

if you have a need take it to God

Now be careful it is a need....also be joyful in receiving a no from God because He knows exactly what you need when you need it and no may be exactly what you need.

God does meet physical needs.....healings.....endurance.....financial....etc but this is more for your spiritual needs.

God loves you so He cares about your physical but not at all like He cares about your spiritual......having a perfect life on earth and not going to heaven is pointless.

Living a life full of pain and hurt and rejection here on earth but going to heaven is priceless

Never Separated From His Love

Romans 8:38-39

“For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Church…God Always is....nothing…absolutely nothing can separate you from His love

He sent Jesus to die for your sins and my sins while you and I were His enemies

Nothing

All you have to do is have faith and surrender

Give it to Him

No matter the question the answer is Jesus

Think of the freedom in this truth

Nothing

Pain

Anxiety

Depression

Addiction

Greed

satan

world

persecution

sickness

ruin

failure

enemies

friends

family

death

NOTHING CAN SEPARATE YOU FROM GOD’S LOVE

That means your past can’t separate you from God’s love

Your past sin

You are not too bad or too evil for God to love you

God loves satan

God created satan

satan will face judgement for his rejection of Jesus but God loves him

God loves you

God created you

The question is will you accept Jesus?

If you have accepted Jesus then nothing can separate you from Jesus

You are God’s child and you can have full faith through the Holy Spirit that

God was

God is

God will always be

What do you need to bring to Him this morning?

Maybe it is your past....God was there

Maybe it is something right now....God is here

Maybe it is something in the future…>God is there

What do YOU need to bring to Him this morning? That is what the altar is about…bringing it to God
