All for Jesus 2 Corinthians 1:1-11 IN THE AFFLICTED LIFE Big Idea: The Christian life involves afflictions that God uses to break down our self sufficiency so that we will rely on him and others more. 1) OUR EXPERIENCE the christian life involves many struggles - the experience of the apostle (v8-9a) (2 Cor 11:24-28) - the experience of the believer (v5-6) 2) GOD’S PURPOSE: God wants us to rely on him - relying on God (v8b-9) - receiving God’s comfort (v3,5) God wants us to rely on one another - asking others to pray for us (v11) - passing on God’s comfort to others (v4-7) Suffering & comfort chain: From God - through Christ – to us - to others
