Good morning, LifePointe Church family! It's a joy to be with you today as we gather together to worship and to hear from God's word. Today, I want to talk about a subject that is near and dear to the heart of every Christian: the love of God. As we dive into this topic, I want to invite you to open your hearts and minds to what God has to say to us today. First, let's establish what we mean by the "love of God." In John 3:16, we read, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." This verse is a clear demonstration of God's love for us. He loved us so much that he gave his own son to die on the cross for our sins. But what does it mean for us to receive this love? In Romans 5:8, we read, "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." God's love for us is not based on our performance or our ability to earn it. It is freely given to us, even in our brokenness and sinfulness. So how do we respond to this love? In 1 John 4:19, we read, "We love because he first loved us." Our love for God and for others flows out of the love that God has shown us. As we experience the depth and richness of God's love, it overflows into every area of our lives. But what does this look like practically? In Matthew 22:37-40, Jesus says, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments." Loving God and loving others is not just a suggestion, it's a commandment. And when we live out this love, we reflect the character of God to a world that desperately needs to experience his love. So let me ask you today: have you experienced the love of God? Have you responded to his love by loving him and loving others? If not, I want to invite you to receive God's love today. It's not something you can earn or deserve, but it's something that is freely given to you. And for those of us who have already experienced God's love, let's continue to grow in our love for him and for others. Let's be a community that is known for our love, just as Jesus said, "By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another." (John 13:35) Let's pray. Heavenly Father, we thank you for your incredible love for us. We ask that you would help us to experience your love in deeper and richer ways, and that it would overflow into every area of our lives. Help us to love you with all our hearts and to love our neighbors as ourselves. We ask this in Jesus' name, Amen.
