Summer is for GROWING

Kingdom grows like a seed

Mark 4:26 NLT
26 Jesus also said, “The Kingdom of God is like a farmer who scatters seed on the ground.
Mark 4:27 NLT
27 Night and day, while he’s asleep or awake, the seed sprouts and grows, but he does not understand how it happens.
Mark 4:28 NLT
28 The earth produces the crops on its own. First a leaf blade pushes through, then the heads of wheat are formed, and finally the grain ripens.
Mark 4:29 NLT
29 And as soon as the grain is ready, the farmer comes and harvests it with a sickle, for the harvest time has come.”

Tares and wheat grow together

· A summertime faith must trust the justice of God to handle situations beyond our control
Matthew 13:24–30 NLT
24 Here is another story Jesus told: “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a farmer who planted good seed in his field. 25 But that night as the workers slept, his enemy came and planted weeds among the wheat, then slipped away. 26 When the crop began to grow and produce grain, the weeds also grew. 27 “The farmer’s workers went to him and said, ‘Sir, the field where you planted that good seed is full of weeds! Where did they come from?’ 28 “ ‘An enemy has done this!’ the farmer exclaimed. “ ‘Should we pull out the weeds?’ they asked. 29 “ ‘No,’ he replied, ‘you’ll uproot the wheat if you do. 30 Let both grow together until the harvest. Then I will tell the harvesters to sort out the weeds, tie them into bundles, and burn them, and to put the wheat in the barn.’ ”
· Where is Jesus on the summer?

· We are co laborers with Christ

Samaritans Saved in the Summer

– quick work!
· In John chapter 4, even the hearts of the “despised” Samaritans were ripe for harvest
· How? they came to faith because the testimony of the woman at the well who spoke with Jesus.
· the Samaritan woman is an illustration for the harvest process
John 4:34–38 NLT
34 Then Jesus explained: “My nourishment comes from doing the will of God, who sent me, and from finishing his work. 35 You know the saying, ‘Four months between planting and harvest.’ But I say, wake up and look around. The fields are already ripe for harvest. 36 The harvesters are paid good wages, and the fruit they harvest is people brought to eternal life. What joy awaits both the planter and the harvester alike! 37 You know the saying, ‘One plants and another harvests.’ And it’s true. 38 I sent you to harvest where you didn’t plant; others had already done the work, and now you will get to gather the harvest.”
· winter – she was alone and lost – dark night of the soul
· spring – Jesus sowed the Word –
· summer – Sarmatian village
· fall – city salvation!
Jesus reaped a village by sowing into one person

People are ripe all around us – just ask

· See the field white UNTO harvest – see your world full of people ready to come to Christ
· waiting for someone to pray for them, talk to them, invited them to church
· your coworkers, neighbors, family
See the need of laborers

A Summer faith says – “God will do it again – through me”

Asbury – more laborers!
· today, we can see the current move of God in our land.
· Revival is taking place on the 50th anniversary of Asbury –
· we are living in historic times!
· let’s make the most of the present opportunities
What to do in the summertime:
· Prepare by prayer, cleaning, fixing, expanding
· Stretch the tent pegs
· Get ready for increase.
· Preparation puts the pressure on God until he has to move
· I AM READY

A Summer faith is PATIENT

· be patient with the growing process – wait for it – it will come
· let patience have her perfect work
Summer can be a DRY time (DROUGHT)
· so keep watering your seed with prayer. Continually speak God’s Word over your harvest
Summer requires Patience and Trust
· that all their hard work will pay off
· that their investment will pay back – MANY times over

Be Patience while you GROW

James 1:3–4 (NLT)
3 For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow.
4 So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.

Summer points to the END

Matthew 24:32–33 (NLT)
32 “Now learn a lesson from the fig tree. When its branches bud and its leaves begin to sprout, you know that summer is near.
33 In the same way, when you see all these things, you can know his return is very near, right at the door.

Personal Challenge: Did you sow? Will you water? Will you Wait?

Questions to consider:
did you sow?
will you water?
will you wait?
· Were you faithful to plant during your spring season?
· Are you willing to wait for your harvest?
· will you water and protect your harvest? by speaking God’s Word over it?
