Foundations

To begin our series on Abundant Life, we need to start at the beginning.
In Genesis 1, God creates the world.
In Genesis 2, God Creates man and woman.
In Genesis 3, man rebels against God’s authority.
The letter Paul wrote to the church in Rome has within it a great layout to understand:

1. The Human Problem - El problema humano

Romans 3:10 NKJV
10 As it is written: “There is none righteous, no, not one;
Romans 3:10 RVR60
10 Como está escrito: No hay justo, ni aun uno;
Romans 3:23 NKJV
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
Romans 3:23 RVR60
Romans 6:23 NKJV
23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 6:23 RVR60
The rebellion of mankind brought with it the consequence of eternal separation from God.
That which was beautiful was now destroyed!
Adam could not walk with God in the cool of the day anymore.
The relationship was broken and man’s consequence was to be cast out of God’s presence forever.

2. Hope for Humanity in Christ - Esperanza para la humanidad en Cristo

Romans 5:8 NKJV
8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 5:8 RVR60
Right after Adam and Eve sinned, God promised a savior who would crush the head of the serpent. Genesis 3:15 “15 And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel.””
God’s response to man’s sin was compassion. In verse 21 of Genesis 3, God makes Adam and Eve clothes to cover their nakedness Genesis 3:21 “21 Also for Adam and his wife the Lord God made tunics of skin, and clothed them.”
What compassion from God. What love that He would
Give us the opportunity to choose Him or reject Him, knowing what choice we would make
Watch us reject Him but still have compassion on us
Send His Son to pay the punishment for our sin
But it is not forced on us either. Adam and Eve had to choose to reject God, and you and I must now choose to accept Him.

3. The Sinner’s Response - La Respuesta del Pecador

Romans 10:9–10 NKJV
9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Romans 10:9–10 RVR60
Romans 10:13 NKJV
13 For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
Romans 10:13 RVR60
You have a choice to continue in rebellion and reject His authority in your life, or you can choose to confess He is Lord and believe in your heart.
John 3:16–17 NKJV
16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
John 3:16–17 RVR60
What love the perfect, loving God has for us that rather than condemn us in our sin, He sent Jesus to save us.

4. Result of Salvation - Resultado de la Salvación

Jesus did not save you so you would not go to hell.
Jesus saved you to redeem you to the heart of God
Ephesians 1:7 NKJV
7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace
Ephesians 1:7 RVR60
Redemption is why Jesus saved us.
Romans 5:1–2 NKJV
1 Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
Romans 5:1–2 RVR60
Romans 8:1 NKJV
1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.
Romans 8:1 RVR60
We are no longer condemned to death and separation. We now have redemption, justification, and peace.
YOU ARE NOT ALONE!!!! And you never have to be alone again.
Your sin condemns you - Jesus cleans you
Tu pecado te condena - Jesús te limpia
Your sin isolates you - Jesus includes you as His child
Your sin lies to you - Jesus loves you with truth and light
Tu pecado te miente - Jesús te ama con verdad y luz
Your sin separates you - Jesus saves you and redeems you to God
Tu pecado te separa - Jesús te salva y te redime para Dios
God, I know that I am a sinner and that the wages of sin are death.
I believe that you sent your Son, Jesus Christ, as a payment for my punishment.
I declare that Jesus is my Lord and profess my faith for salvation through the death and resurrection of Jesus.
Thank you for your grace, forgiveness, peace, and gift of eternal life. Amen!

The Point - El punto

We cannot understand life everlasting, if we do not understand our problem, His Hope, our Response, and the result of Salvation in our lives.
We celebrate the birth of Jesus in December, but this next week should be the most exciting week of the year for us.
Jesus did not come to earth for vacation. He came to love us, serve us, die for us, and save us through His resurrection.
Friday we will observe His death - Saturday, we will share the good new of the Fountain of Life, and Sunday we will celebrate the victory Jesus has over death, over sin, and the life He gives you and me.
This should make you excited. It is better than any great deal you ever had. You couldn’t afford this deal with money, but the best news is, you didn’t pay for it. He did! All you have to do is receive it.
I want to open up the altar this morning for prayer.
If you received Jesus into your heart today, I want you to come to the front for prayer.
If you re-dedicated your life to Jesus today, I want you to come to the front for prayer.
Let us know, we want to celebrate with you.
If you are praying for the salvation of a loved one, I want to to come forward and stand in intercession for them. Let’s pray they would receive the good news of the gospel and be redeemed too.
There is no judgement in altar calls. There is only love, faith, forgiveness, and freedom.
