Song - The Old Rugged Cross
Song - The Old Rugged Cross
A Psalm of David.
1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still waters.
3 He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: And I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

Message: - The Master Is Come and Calls
Message: - The Master Is Come and Calls
I had the opportunity of spending time with Ron one afternoon as he drove me to the hospital to visit Craig some times ago.
On the way he expressed his desire for me to share the most important message in the world with his family.
I want to do that with a fascinating story in the Bible about a man named Lazarus.
and how Jesus worked an amazing miracle in raising him from the dead.
I don’t have time to go into all of that story - but I want to talk about something that happened after Lazarus passes away - Jesus shows up and Martha is just a little indignant -
Let me read to you what happens
21 Then said Martha unto Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.
22 But I know, that even now, whatsoever thou wilt ask of God, God will give it thee.
23 Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again.
24 Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day.
25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?
27 She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world.
28 And when she had so said, she went her way, and called Mary her sister secretly, saying, The Master is come, and calleth for thee.
Jesus makes a couple of truth claim:
“I am the resurrection, and life”
Jesus expressed that part of the will of His Father for him is that he raised up those who believe in him at the last day.
For Christians - which Ron expressed to me and others his belief in Jesus as Lord and Savior - and He would want all of you to be sure you are doing that as well - death and dying is not all there is - we know and believe that when this life is over - eternal life continues. And that someday God will raise up all those who have died in the Lord giving them a resurrected body that will never die.
Promises “whoever believes in me [Jesus] though he dies, yet he shall live
What does it mean to believe in Jesus?
It means believe that God Loves You
John 3:16 “16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
It means to believe His alone is the way to the Father - to heaven.
It means to believe that what He says is the Truth and should be accepted and obeyed
Part of that teaching is that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.
That we must be born-again
We must confess and repent of our sins - We agree with what God says about us - we stop living in wilful sin, and turn toward God
1 John 1:9 “9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
We must receive the grace that He offers and He will come into our hearts to abide and the promise as spoken in Romans 8:11 “11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.”
We will receive the assurance or as some call the witness of the Spirit that we are born again - we can know - we don’t have to guess or hope
15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
If you do not know HIM as the Resurrection and Life - if you do not know that you are a child of God - if you do not know that you will be raised with HIM let me encourage you to do that today.
It is not complicate or difficult -
Admit you are a sinner
Believe on Him
Confess Him as Lord
Receive the Witness of the Spirit.
It’s not some preformated verbal prayer - it is just a cry from the heart.
If you have more questions or need help feel free to talk to me after the service. I would be happy to help.
Let us pray
