8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.
In my life I have received invitations to attend many events, to travel to various places.
However, the greatest invitation that a person can receive is the invitation to come near to God.
To have a close intimate relationship with the Creator of all things.
To Word come near means to approach, to move toward.
Adam messed up not just because he sinned ( God had a plan to deal with the sin)= Repentance was God plan to deal with sin.
If sin was the problem God would have search for Adam, never reached out to Adam
Adam main issue he that he ran from God because he shamed, naked and afraid.
Only if he ran to the God of mercy, grace and peace. Adam would have found.
The only reason any person have found grace is that they ran to God and not from Him.
When run to God we find our self; the prodigal found himself when he ran to his father.
17 And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father’s have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!
When we have a right revelation that God wants to his grace, mercy, and peace to us have boldness and confidence to do His will
16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
We need God’s grace, mercy, and peace because.
According to the NSDUH survey results for 2020, 14.5% of the U.S. population (or 40.3 million people) over 12 have a substance use disorder.
More than 30 percent of American adults have abused alcohol or suffered from alcoholism at some point in their lives, and few have received treatment, according to a new government study.
Violent crime statistics include aggravated assault, robbery, rape, and homicide.
There were a total of 1,313,105 violent crimes in the US in 2020, an increase of 5% or 62,712 violent crimes from 2019.
Forty-seven percent of Americans now say they belong to a house of worship, down from 70% in the mid-1990s and 50% in 2019. The decline is part of a continued drop in membership over the past 20 years, according to Gallup data.
There a correlation: As church attendance declines the crime and addiction rate goes up.
34 Righteousness exalteth a nation: But sin is a reproach to any people.
What is the solution? People must get closer to God and experience His grace, mercy, and peace.
1 The elder unto the elect lady and her children, whom I love in the truth; and not I only, but also all they that have known the truth; 2 for the truth’s sake, which dwelleth in us, and shall be with us for ever. 3 Grace be with you, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.
John declare the blessing grace, mercy, and peace to the
First of John make clear that grace mercy and peace come from the LORD JESUS CHRIST, the Son of the Father.
Second showed that grace, mercy, and peace is establish in truth and love.
Without truth and love, GRACE would be imbalanced.
Love = AGAPE love, unconditional love, love not based on performance. Love that the father of prodigal son gave Him and the love the God, the father gave us.
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Before mankind met any conditions God love us. Therefore because he loved we receive His love by honoring Him.
Grace without truth will lead to immaturity, carnal, cheap grace living. Everything goes, God understands my heart. example the Corinth church
1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
Truth without Grace leads to legalism, harshness, judgmental, super-critical, we become sin inspectors others - example Pharisees
Moses gave us the law
Jesus came to give grace and truth
17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
First, grace freed us and expunge our sin just as judge can clear someone criminal record when they are found righteous.
Then grace renew us, transforms us, grace makes us generous, kind, forgiving people. Grace takes us from self-centered to other centered.
God’s grace help us to satisfied and content.
God’s grace helps us press on to reach our high calling of God in Christ, Jesus!
Grace also give us the ability to end this life with courage and honor.
7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
Mercy- pity or compassion,
14 And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick.
1 O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: For his mercy endureth for ever.
Believers that struggle with mercy need to just realize how much they have been forgiven.
26 The servant therefore fell down, and worshipped him, saying, Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay thee all. 27 Then the lord of that servant was moved with compassion, and loosed him, and forgave him the debt. 28 But the same servant went out, and found one of his fellowservants, which owed him an hundred pence: and he laid hands on him, and took him by the throat, saying, Pay me that thou owest.
In the old testament mercy was often called loving-kindness a covenant word.
18 The Lord is longsuffering, and of great mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression, and by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation. 19 Pardon, I beseech thee, the iniquity of this people according unto the greatness of thy mercy, and as thou hast forgiven this people, from Egypt even until now.
7 Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
Peace
First we have peace with God.
Romans 5:1
1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
The we have the peace God.
15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.
7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:
