9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
We will reap
Prayer
Service
58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
Will there ever be an answer
Will there ever be a miracle
Will there ever be a breakthrough
What does it mean to lose everything?
What does feel like to cry till you can’t cry anymore?
What does in feel like to have a burden that it seems you can’t take another step under the burden?
Bring me the ephod, priestly garment - meeting with the Lord
1/3 can’t make it over the brook Besor.
These are warriors that cannot pursue anymore.
vs 16
vs 17
vs 21 David respected those that couldn’t go
vs 22-24
Changes to life happen to us all
Extra expenses
Work
Family
Sickness
You have given but you don’t have anymore to give
These were following and obeying but they were out of energy
They weren’t rebellious
They didn’t have an attitude
Ziklag was destroyed
Wives and children were hostages
All their possessions were gone
Worry
Sorrow
Rage
That was directed towards David because He was leading
Some who get mad at God will blame the next leader in line
David was unappreciated
David was a fugitive
The trials today are strengthening you for tomorrow
Anything that bothers us could today we could focus on that and believe this is the worst day of our life.
David spiritually arose to the challenge
Emotionally, encouraged himself
Physically, took the ephod and prayed
When family life is difficult
When the job is a drudgery
When the children won’t listen
When you can’t seem to hear from the Lord
When the marriage is mediocre
God is calling you to Him
Humanity will fail you Jesus will never fail you
God is teaching you to depend on Him even if that means taking everyone else from you.
God is leading us to dependance on Him
8 And David inquired at the Lord, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them? And he answered him, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all.
Isn’t that obvious we might say
Prayer must be offered so the Lord can do His work
15 And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.
The battle was the Lord’s
The weapons of our warfare are not carnal
The brook of Besor was a place where weary men would rest, not having enough strength to pursue after their family… How weary does a person have to be ?
The brook of Besor was not a place of defeat
We must be careful to not allow the devil to tempt us with discouragement
To tempt us with helplessness
Those at the brook are weary - Support The Weak
24 For who will hearken unto you in this matter? but as his part is that goeth down to the battle, so shall his part be that tarrieth by the stuff: they shall part alike.
There are certain things that help strengthen
Don’t stop attending church when you are weak
You need more encouragement when you are weary
Don’t get out of the word
Encourage others to stay close to the Lord
Keep giving when you are discouraged
Where your treasure is there will your heart be also
Don’t dabble with sin if you need rest
Decide you will not stay at the Brook of Besor
Wait on the Lord
Isa 40:28 Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.
Isa 40:29 He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.
Isa 40:30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:
Isa 40:31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
If you don’t wait on the Lord you will be embarrassed when the Lord gives the victory.
We are an army
When people are getting saved
When the Lord is working
You’ll want to be a part
Those that went to the battle - The Battle Is the Lord’s
They chased the enemy
They found an Egyptian
They pursued the Amalekites
They won the victory - God restored what was lost
Those that went to the battle
22 Then answered all the wicked men and men of Belial, of those that went with David, and said, Because they went not with us, we will not give them ought of the spoil that we have recovered, save to every man his wife and his children, that they may lead them away, and depart.
Belial - ungodly and evil men
God Is The Winner
23 Then said David, Ye shall not do so, my brethren, with that which the Lord hath given us, who hath preserved us, and delivered the company that came against us into our hand.
24 For who will hearken unto you in this matter? but as his part is that goeth down to the battle, so shall his part be that tarrieth by the stuff: they shall part alike.
We don’t compare ourselves
“I sacrificed more”
We fight for others when they can’t
I will fight for you when you are weak
Fight for others when they are weak
When someone is short with their words
When someone is agitated
God gives restoration
God gives energy and grace
God gives healing
Be careful how we treat those who don’t have the strength
Act 20:35 I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.
1Th 5:14 Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.
If you are weary wait on the Lord
If you are strong
Do not judge the weary
The brook is a place the weary are encouraged and the proud are corrected and cautioned.
