4 Steps To Get Out Of Addiction
Admit there is a problem. You may think you have already done this but there is more to admitting there is a problem than just stating that I do have a problem. Why is it a problem? How does this effect my decision making? How does it effect my relationships with others? What destructive behaviors does it cause? How has it destroyed my life? Why do I want to get rid of my addiction
Resist the temptation. Stop feeding it. You have to want to get out of your addiction more than anything else. It will be hard and maybe even painful. Ask yourself, “Do I really want to be out of slavery to these drugs?”. This is not something you can do gradually. There is not a short cut or an easier way. You are either all in or not in at all. It’s easier to stay in addiction. Contrary to what you think and feel. You do not need these drugs.
Replace old habits with new ones. Something has to fill the void that drugs will leave in your life. Only about 25% of those who try to get of addiction ever do. Only 15% of those stay off permanently. The longer you are drug free the greater the odds of staying drug free will become. You need to work take a hobby. fill your mind with Gods word. Get rid of any and all people who are associated with drug addiction. Move/get away. bad company corrupts good morals. Go somewhere drugs are less available. Exercise and sunshine are always helpful. Idleness leads to depression and substance abuse.
Spend time in God’s Word meditating on scriptures about strength, love, hope, and peace.
