Hosanna the King is Coming Mark 11: 8  And many spread their garments in the way: and others cut down branches off the trees, and strawed them in the way. 9 And they that went before, and they that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna; Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord: 10 Blessed be the kingdom of our father David, that cometh in the name of the Lord: Hosanna in the highest.

To begin with brothers and sisters, christian friends, well wishers, and saints of God The King is Coming . The Messiah is Coming . The Precious Lamb of God is Coming to the Jewish Passover and His name is Jesus the Christ. And as we glint gleam and gaze at this glorious text we can find some gallant facts that will funnel us into a fabulous finish.

And what’s so interesting about this famous story is that All four Gospel writers told this story. Matthew tells it in Chapter 21:1-11 . Mark tells it in Chapter 11:1-11. Luke tells it in chapter 19:28-44. And John tells it in Chapter 12:12-19.

Can I tell the story, because it’s Psalm Sunday. all over the Christian world. Priests, Pastors, Poiamans, Bishops, Elders, and Ekklesians should be talking about Palm Sunday how Jesus made His triumphant entrance down the main street in Jerusalem.

Just before Jesus gets to Jerusalem the bible tells us that He’s passing through Jericho. Jesus is very intentional. He’s going from Jericho to Jerusalem. While in Jericho Jesus see Zacchaeus up in a sycamore tree and says come down out of that sycamore tree because Today Salvation is coming to dine at thine house. Long story short Zacchaeus Repented and changed his mind Zacchaeus was regenerated because his heart was changed and then Zacchaeus was converted because he started living a new and better lifestyle.

Then not to keep you too long but while leaving town. Blind Bartemaeus began hollering thou son of David have Mercy on me. They told him to hush up he said no 3x And long story short Jesus said Bartemaues What do you want me tp do for you? Bartemaues said Lord that I might receive my sight. and the bible says immediately he receive his sight and began to follow Jesus to Jerusalem.

When Jesus got to the outskirts of the metropolitan area of Jerusalem the bible says in Luke 19:29  And it came to pass, when he was come nigh to Bethphage and Bethany, at the mount called the mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples, 30 Saying, Go ye into the village over against you; in the which at your entering ye shall find a colt tied, whereon yet never man sat: loose him, and bring him hither. 31 And if any man ask you, Why do ye loose him? thus shall ye say unto him, Because the Lord hath need of him. The Master has need of him The Lord has need of him the Messiah has need of him the King of Glory has need of him.

In other words Jesus said Bring the donkey to Me. I see several things of renown in the text. I see Jesus’ Omniscient Nature and the disciples Obsequious Nature coming into play.

1. Jesus’ Omniscient Nature. God know everything about anything that is known that able to be knowable. Jesus knew precisely where the donkey would be and some theologians say that Jesus had even prearranged this even with the owner of the donkey for this special occasion. Which ever way it really went, it still tells us that Jesus knows all about it!Whatever we are going through Jesus knows all about it Tell your neighbor: Jesus knows all about it.

Then 2. There is the disciples in this story with their Obsequious Nature. The term Obsequious Nature means that the disciples had an obedient spirit towards Jesus. And how many people know that if you’re obedient to the Spirit of the Lord that He’s going to bless you?

The disciple said exactly as Jesus told them to say. And did exactly as Jesus told them to do, and the results were successful. if we just do what God says everything will be alright. And the proof of this in found in Mark 11:6 because the bible says “And they said unto them even as Jesus had commanded: and they let the donkeys go.

I’ve got the formula 3x “If I continue to have an Obsequious Nature and be obedient to God concerning his house things are going to work out righteously.” Not like I want, not like you want , But like God wants. The disciples did exactly as Jesus told them and the owners of the donkey let the donkeys go without even a fuss. All they said was the Master has need of them.

And so the bible says that the disciples brought the donkey that had never been rode on before. And they took off their coats and sat Jesus upon the donkey. Wait nah The bible already prophesied that this would happen. Look at Zechariah 9:9  Rejoice greatly, people of Jerusalem! Shout for joy, people of Jerusalem!Your king is coming to you. He does what is right, and he saves. He is gentle and riding on a donkey, on the colt of a donkey.

The donkey had never been ridden on. Ride Ob King Jesus. Listen brothers and sisters, This beast of burden should have been riotous, and routy- bouty, bucking and kicking and he hawing, but the donkey is docile and dutiful and surprisingly calm.

And the donkey is calm because the Master has need of Him.Wait nah the prophet Zechariah prophesied about this donkey hundreds of years before Jesus was ever born in Bethlehem.

And so why use a donkey for this Psalm Sunday event.Ride on King Jesus. I mean why not use a stallion, or a clydesdale or Pink or or a pa lamina or a quarter horse or a Thoroughbred or a Tennessee walking horse, So Why use a donkey? They used the donkey as a symbolic expression of royalty, as an expression of regalness, and as a declaration that the King was about to come through town.

Brothers and sisters I like this story because this is the only time that Jesus allows Himself to be publicly displayed as the King that comes in the name of the Lord. This is the only time when He’s allowing the people to actually call Him the Messiah.

And This is a great time to give honor where honor is due, to give tribute where tribute is due, and to give respect where respect is due.If there is someone that you need to honor go on and honor them now and give them their flowers while they can yet smell them, Amen?

Mark 11: 7 And they brought the colt to Jesus, and cast their garments on him; and he sat upon him. 8 And many spread their garments in the way: and others cut down branches off the trees, and strawed them in the way. 9 And they that went before, and they that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna; Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord: 10 Blessed be the kingdom of our father David, that cometh in the name of the Lord: Hosanna in the highest.

Let’s unpack this text and I’m through 1. They brought the donkey to Jesus. 2. They took off their coats and garments and put them on the donkey. 3. Others threw Psalms and garments down the streets of Jerusalem. It was like being on the red carpet in Hollywood California. It was like being in time square in New York City. It was Like State Street in Chicago, Illinois. It was Like Brickham street in Miami Florida. It was like Beale Street in Memphis Tennessee. It was Like Peach Street In Atlanta Georgia, and It was Like Bourbon Street in New Orleans Louisiana.

OH don’t you see them walking ahead of Jesus as they strew psalm in the way and shouted “Praise God! God bless the One who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna Hosanna Meaning Salvation cometh now right now deliver us Lord Fix it right Now Jesus. Make a way today Jesus Hosanna in the Highest and Glory to God. Hosanna; Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord: 10 Blessed be the kingdom of our father David, that cometh in the name of the Lord: Hosanna in the highest. The crowd was shouting and quoting Psalms 118: 26 Blessed be he that cometh in the name of the LORD: We have blessed you out of the house of the LORD. And so all of Jerusalem was ready for the coming of the Messiah. They were tired of Roman Rule they were tired of being captive people in their own land. It was a form of slavery like in Egypt. But in their own land. And the folk are singing and shouting Hosanna Saying that Jesus is the New King David saying that a big change is about to come Saying that the Lord’s Messiah and deliverer has come and Blessed be He that cometh in the name the Lord. They said Hosanna Meaning it was a continuous Nouns meaning it was an on going expression. They didn’t just say Hosanna one time no no no They said “Hosanna Save us, “Hosanna Save us right now, “Hosanna help us because you’re Jehovah Ezrah the Lord my Helper They said “Hosanna deliver us because you’re Jehovah Palat Our Deliverer, “Hosanna make a way out of no way, because you’re a way maker. They shouted “Hosanna provide for us because you’re Jehovah Jireh the Lord our provider. “Hosanna give us peace because you’re Jehovah Shalom The Good Lord is our Peace. They Shouted “Hosanna pick us up because you’re Jehovah Rum Rosh Our God who lifts up a bowed down head. They Shouted “Hosanna heal us because you’re Jehovah Rapha The God that Heals my body heals my hurts heals my sorrows and heals my pains Hosanna Hosanna Hosanna. They shouted Hosanna so long and so loud until some of the Pharisees and the other religious authorities got mad and said in Luke 19: 39 Master 3x, rebuke thy disciples.Tell them to stop saying Hosanna. Tell them to stop making you a diety equal with God Almighty. And verse 40 says that Jesus answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the Rocks would immediately cry out. I’m closing here now but before I go I don’t know about you but I don’t need no Rock crying out for me.

The Lord been too good to me for me to sit down quiet now. Oh Lord.Have the Lord been good to you. If God has truly been good to you, Tell your neighbor He’s been good He’s been good He’s been good . Oh Lord Lordy you’ve been better to me than I’ve been to myself Hosanna Hosanna Hosanna Bless His Holy and Righteous Name. Yeah 3x.
