Intro Game:
Alphabet wars.
Line up, and do categories. You must say something that starts with the next letter of the alphabet. For example, if the category was shoes, A = adidas. B = boots. C= crocs. etc…
You must answer in 3 - 5 seconds. I’ll show some grace but gotta be in that window. The faster the better.
Category 1 = Food.
Category 2 = animals.
Category 3 = sports
Category 4 = Names
Category 5 = books of the bible ( must include the letter that’s all). Doesn’t have to start with the letter.
Game 2
H.O.R.S.E Trickshot marshmallow catch.
I need small marshmallows and big marshmallows
The game is just to have one team do a trickshot with a marshmallow and the other teams have to replicate it.
If team A is successful, then team B must replicate. IF team B fails, team C can start again and choose whatever they want.
______________________________________
1. What have you learned studying Revelation?
2. If you could summarize Revelation into one or two sentences, what is Revelation about?
The Throne, The victory of Christ, the return of Christ for His Bride, the church. the Worship of God
3. Read Rev. 21:1-5.
What really bad thing happened this week? - shooting.
What about these 5 verses give us hope about our future dwelling with God in light of all the evil we face here?
4. Read Rev. 21:21 “21 And the twelve gates were twelve pearls, each of the gates made of a single pearl, and the street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass.”
The streets are made of gold… what do you find interesting about that?
What are our streets made out of?
What value does gold have in our world?
What value does gold have in heaven?
5. Read Revelation 22:3. What is the curse that is no more?
Genesis 3:16-19 “16 To the woman he said, “I will surely multiply your pain in childbearing; in pain you shall bring forth children. Your desire shall be contrary to your husband, but he shall rule over you.” 17 And to Adam he said, “Because you have listened to the voice of your wife and have eaten of the tree of which I commanded you, ‘You shall not eat of it,’ cursed is the ground because of you; in pain you shall eat of it all the days of your life; 18 thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you; and you shall eat the plants of the field. 19 By the sweat of your face you shall eat bread, till you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; for you are dust, and to dust you shall return.””
Romans 6:23 “23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
God is victorious. No more fear, tears, or anxiety over sin.
The peace of God.
Philippians 4:6-7 “6 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
6. Read Revelation 22:12-17. What is the good news about Jesus’ return?
What is our role in Jesus’ return? - COME. Inviting others. Living out the gospel in our own lives. (vs. 17).
Revelation 22:20 “20 He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus!”
He is coming soon… We need to be watching.
Finally, in Revelation, there is much light but also much darkness.
There is great victory, but there is also great destruction and the wrath of God on full display.
I want you to remember something key from last week.
Revelation 9:20 “20 The rest of mankind, who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands nor give up worshiping demons and idols of gold and silver and bronze and stone and wood, which cannot see or hear or walk,”
For much of man, the call to turn to Jesus for Salvation is going to fall on deaf ears.
Meaning, most people don’t care and don’t listen.
They don’t think they need a savior because they don’t see anything in their own lives that they need saving from.
Our call is to be humble enough to help others see, we are sinners too!
We sin daily.
We are not arrogant people calling them to a life of no more sin.
We are humble people calling people to recognize we can’t pay for our sin.
Jesus did.
Jesus offers us righteousness and a future hope.
But again, many people don’t care and won’t listen.
Our job is to invite people to come.
To live lives shining the light and exposing the darkness.
This week is a great example of that.
Give verses to read and then give brief explanation.
Read Ephesians 5:11 “11 Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them.”
What should we call the shooting that happened this week in the church/school?
Evil and demonic. that’s what it was.
You want to see hell and Satan on full display. There it was for you.
Ephesians 5:13 “13 But when anything is exposed by the light, it becomes visible,”
We need to expose that.
Ephesians 6:12 “12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.”
We need to recognize where the battle is in this world.
Ephesians 6:18 “18 praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints,”
We need to respond by praying.
In our prayers too, we know where we have victory.
Where we are breathing here on earth, or breathing the air of heaven, our victory is only in Christ.
We need, as men, to live with a sense of urgency to the call of telling others about Christ.
Of living lives proclaiming christ.
and privately when no one is watching, running to Christ in prayer.
On our knees, asking for God to work in our lives, and in the lives of those around us.
And all the while looking forward to the hope of his return as we say, “Come Lord Jesus. Amen.”
