What do I want them to know? Jesus is the Messian King who’s come to save the world
Why? It is this King that brings hope
What do I want them to do? Worship and follow the King, put their faith, believing loyalty into the king
Why? This is the King that brings hope and establishes a new kingdom
ME/WE
Have you ever had a time in your life when what you SAW and/or what you heard did not match up with reality?
Some of us have had this with dating apps and sites…I had this happen to me years ago before I met Robyn
Who they said they were, described themselves to be is not who they say they are.

More importantly the box they check mark Christian is nothing more than a checkmark…their Christian faith is a Chreaster faith Christmas and Easter and you want a truly devoted follower of God.
You saw something or heard something, and what you heard was GREAT NEWS, wonderful news, but in fact did not line up with reality
For some of us it is with a product we bought....we read the reviews and it was over 4 stars on Amazon…and you buy it and what happens?
and you bought it but it did not live up to expectations,
People said on Amazon they loved it, it was life changing, would buy again and you are like they must have been paid to say that…there is not way they were telling the truth
We have also been on the other side of things where what we SEE and HEAR exceeds our expectations, it blew us away.

Meet them and you are like they are better than you friend said…so much better that you ended up marrying them....I have had friends do that
TENSION
Why do I bring this up?
Because it is the question many people about the man named Jesus.....this what was asked 2000 years ago and today
Who is this man? Who is this person?
This man who is healing the blind
Friend to sinners
Who is this person that my uncle John met and uncle Jon has not been the same since He met this man named Jesus
Has a tax collector amongst His disciples and fisherman and Zealot and has women disciples who follow Him
Then 2000 years ago the people were saying on the right before th Triumphal entry of Jesus
IT IS OUT OF THIS THAT THREE GROUP OF PEOPLE REACT…In different groups today
WHAT HAVE BEEN PEOPLE’S PRIMARY REACTIONS TO JESUS COMING IN?
We have three primary reactions to what they have SEEN and and HEARD
It breaks into three groups
1. One group mostly made up religious leaders have seen and heard Jesus and said this has to end “He is no king and no Messiah” that days before decided to kill Jesus......NO…they reject him and want to kill him......they ones who preached about the Messiah coming and knew the scriptures said “KILL HIM” WE LIKE WORLD
2. Another group is saying King Jesus is here! The messianc King, the one who has been doing miracles, just raised Lazaurs from the dead, preaching about the kingdom of God is here. and what we will find out He is not the king the expected but He is better than what they expected THEY WANTED A CONQUER KING LIKE DAVID, CONQUERING IN THE HUMAN RELM
3. Third group who are the undecided, they have heard the buzz, some have scene the miracles, what they have scene and what they have heard is the truth.
then to make things escalated 2000 years ago a claim was made about Jesus a claim that He accepted for the first time, He normally charged people not to say anything, don’t talk!
THIS CLAIM FORCES HIS ADVISARIES TO KILL HIM
HIS SUPPORTERS TO WANT TO CROWN HIM, FINALLY!
THOSE QUESTIONNING HIM MORE CURIOUS
Then He follows it up with an ACTION
What was the claim? What was the action?
And as they went out of Jericho, a great crowd followed him.
And behold, there were two blind men sitting by the roadside, and when they heard that Jesus was passing by, they cried out, “Lord, have mercy on us, Son of David!”
The crowd rebuked them, telling them to be silent, but they cried out all the more, “Lord, have mercy on us, Son of David!”
And stopping, Jesus called them and said, “What do you want me to do for you?”
They said to him, “Lord, let our eyes be opened.”
And Jesus in pity touched their eyes, and immediately they recovered their sight and followed him.
Then he strictly charged the disciples to tell no one that he was the Christ.
Then after that Jesus does an ACTION
What ACTION does JESUS DO?
CONTEXT
What does Jesus do after this? During the week of Passover this is the High Holy week where some estimate 2 million people came to Jerusalem
- Lamb you are going to sacrifice for Passover on the 14th day of Nissan
does He say I own it but we are going to keep quiet
Does He say get the people, get the war horses!
NO, HE DOESN’T SAY BE QUIET NOR DOES HE SAY GET THE WAR HORSES…WHAT DOES HE DO???
Now when they drew near to Jerusalem and came to Bethphage, to the Mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples,
saying to them, “Go into the village in front of you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied, and a colt with her. Untie them and bring them to me.
If anyone says anything to you, you shall say, ‘The Lord needs them,’ and he will send them at once.”
Jesus is on the journey from Bethphage to the Mount Olives about to ride into Jerusalem, about a 30 minute walk
He then says to the disciples go into the village and immediately you are going to find a donkey, unite it and bring it to me.

.THEY HAVE WALKED WITH JESUS LONG ENOUGH THAT THEY STARTED TO UNDERSTAND, JUST FOLLOW, JUST OBEY AND SO THEY DO
THE DISCIPLES DIDN’T KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON....IS JESUS FEET TIRED...
THE REALITY THE DISCIPLES DIDN’T KNOW WHAT WAS GOING ON
His disciples did not understand these things at first, but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things had been written about him and had been done to him.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
The disciples went and did as Jesus had directed them.
And as they were untying the colt, its owners said to them, “Why are you untying the colt?”
And they said, “The Lord has need of it.”
OF COURSE THIS GOING TO WORK
THEY BRING THE DONKEY TO JESUS AND WHAT HE DO WITH THE DONKEY
They brought the donkey and the colt and put on them their cloaks, and he sat on them.
What are you doing sitting on this donkey??
HE IS GOING TO RIDE INTO JERSULAM....what!?! Jesus you need a war horse?
He’s truly not going to march in as King riding a donkey??? Donkey? That’s a common animal , Jesus needs a war horse
People are going to make fun of you, people are going to riducule you
Can you image someone marching into Washington D.C. riding a donkey saying “I am King”
Maybe some will laugh
But this what was foretold the messiah would do
Jesus is riding to symbolize He is the MESSIAH who is going to WAR but His WAR is not with ROME but with our greatest enemy
This took place to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet, saying,
“Say to the daughter of Zion, ‘Behold, your king is coming to you, humble, and mounted on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a beast of burden.’ ”
RIGHTEOUSNESS AND SALVATION
Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king is coming to you; righteous and having salvation is he, humble and mounted on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.
JESUS IS GOING TO WAR BUT IT IS NOT WITH ROME, IT IS NOT WITH THE RELIGIOUS LEADERS, IT IS WITH ENEMY, DEVIL
WHAT JESUS IS COMING TO DO IS DEFEAT DEATH AS IT IS SAYS
When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.”
“O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?”
The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.
But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
ANNOUNCING DEATH IS GOING TO BE DEFEATED
AND HIS MARCH IN IS SETTING UP A NEW KINGDOM
HE IS SETTING UP A NEW KINGDOM, GREATER THAN THIS WORLD
And in the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that shall never be destroyed, nor shall the kingdom be left to another people. It shall break in pieces all these kingdoms and bring them to an end, and it shall stand forever,
One that is perfect
IT IS THIS MOMENT PEOPLE’s hopes are starting to rise
WHAT DO THEY DO
Most of the crowd spread their cloaks on the road, and others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road.
And the crowds that went before him and that followed him were shouting, “Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!”

Cloaks on the road symbolized the crowd’s submission to Jesus as king (cf. 2 Kings 9:13). Branches (palms) symbolized Jewish nationalism and victory (see John 12:13). They were connected with prominent Jewish victories (e.g., 1 Macc. 13:51) and with the Festival of Tabernacles; palm motifs were common on both Jewish coinage and synagogue decoration
YOU ARE KING, YOU ARE KING, YOU ARE OUR KING
We submitting to you Jesus
We are putting our faith in you, FAITH mean we are putting our believing loyalty in you.
WHEN IS JESUS DOING THIS?
The last song they would sing as they ascended to Jerusalem, A MESSIANCI SONG
Open to me the gates of righteousness, that I may enter through them and give thanks to the Lord.
This is the gate of the Lord; the righteous shall enter through it.
I thank you that you have answered me and have become my salvation.
The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.
This is the Lord’s doing; it is marvelous in our eyes.
This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.
Save us, we pray, O Lord! O Lord, we pray, give us success!
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! We bless you from the house of the Lord.
The Lord is God, and he has made his light to shine upon us. Bind the festal sacrifice with cords, up to the horns of the altar!
You are my God, and I will give thanks to you; you are my God; I will extol you.
Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever!
BIND UP THE FESTIVAL SACRIFICE
Save us Lord, Save us Lord!
Jesus is going to save them, save beyond their greatest expectations
OTHER CROWD
It is at this point the Pharisees are fuming mad
ONE CROWD REJOICING, ONE CROWD AS MAD AS HORNETS
As he was drawing near—already on the way down the Mount of Olives—the whole multitude of his disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen,
saying, “Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”
And some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to him, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples.”
He answered, “I tell you, if these were silent, the very stones would cry out.”
REBUKE, REBUKE, they are doing the right thing and if they don’t rejoice the rocks will cry out.
It’s in the midst all this going on rejoicing, Jesus marches in as king, that we SEE how big Jesus heart is for the world.
And when he drew near and saw the city, he wept over it,
saying, “Would that you, even you, had known on this day the things that make for peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes.
For the days will come upon you, when your enemies will set up a barricade around you and surround you and hem you in on every side
and tear you down to the ground, you and your children within you. And they will not leave one stone upon another in you, because you did not know the time of your visitation.”
I am coming to bring peace between God and man....
Because you did not know the time of the visitation.

How would they have know the exact days?
They missed the day because of what they seen and heard did not line up with what they wanted.
