The Bible is really clear about its stance on illicit immorality, or sexual immorality.
Its very clear and direct about its approach without reminiscing or boasting about it.
The Bible has clear teachings on the pitfalls of sexually immorality as well as the joys chaste and loving marriages have to offer.
Whether you are dealing with the ritual prostitution of a fertility cult, the ordinary prostitute on the street (or in a magazine), or the simple lure of extramarital sex, the temptations and dangers are the same.
Proverbs 5:1–2 NKJV
1 My son, pay attention to my wisdom; Lend your ear to my understanding, 2 That you may preserve discretion, And your lips may keep knowledge.
The benefits of paying attention with wise counsel.
Gives us a lifestyle of discretion
And our words will speak knowledge.
Solomon is saying listen pay attention open your ears this wisdom will reveal to you discernment.
Discretion is the power to devise. The power to make Spirit fulled judgements.
John 7:24 “24 Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment.””
we can major in the minors. we can judge on the insignificant things.
Or maybe have a shallow or narrow interpretation of what Gods word says.
We can judge according to the outward appearance and God is saying judge righteously. Ultimately to think with Him in our judgements.
Proverbs 5:3–5 NKJV
3 For the lips of an immoral woman drip honey, And her mouth is smoother than oil; 4 But in the end she is bitter as wormwood, Sharp as a two-edged sword. 5 Her feet go down to death, Her steps lay hold of hell.
Honey was the sweetest substance in ancient Israel, and oil was the smoothest substance in ancient Israel.
The sweet lips and a smooth mouth from this seductress is referring to her flattery than her sexual availability.
The man is drawn to her because she inflates his ego with hollow praise in ways his own wife will not.
A godly wife will not inflate your ego she will honor you. And build you up in the new man. But not inflate your ego.
Theres a fundamental difference.
The lips in verse 3 is contrasted with lips in verse 2
Daniel 9:9 To the Lord our God belong mercy and forgiveness, though we have rebelled against Him.
Matt 9:6 But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins”—then He said to the paralytic, “Arise, take up your bed, and go to your house.”
Amos 7:2 And so it was, when they had finished eating the grass of the land, that I said: “O Lord God, forgive, I pray! Oh, that Jacob may stand, For he is small!”
Reminiscing or boasting about it
