The easiest person to deceive is the person in the mirror.

Good Questions, Good Decisions

Ask, Answer Honestly, Act

We are not the only people impacted by our decisions.

Proverbs 27:12 NLT
A prudent person foresees danger and takes precautions. The simpleton goes blindly on and suffers the consequences.

Integrity Question

Rigorous honesty is the first rule of recovery.

Tell yourself the truth even if the truth makes you feel bad about yourself.

There are worst things than feeling bad about yourselves.

You’ll never get where you need to be until you acknowledge where you actually are.

The Integrity Question.

Am I being honest with myself?

Justifying = Just a lying

Am I being honest with myself…really?

“What was I doing?”

“What was I thinking?”

As soon as you start selling you on anything, you should hit pause.

We rarely have to sell ourselves on a good idea.

“The human understanding when it has once adopted an opinion…draws all things else to support and agree with it. “ - Francis Bacon

“…And though there be greater number and weight of instances to be found on the other side,...” - Francis Bacon

“yet these it either neglects or despises, or else by some distinction sets aside and rejects.” - Francis Bacon

Confirmation Bias

Jeremiah

2 Chronicles 36:12 NLT
But Zedekiah did what was evil in the sight of the Lord his God, and he refused to humble himself when the prophet Jeremiah spoke to him directly from the Lord.
Jeremiah 17:9 (NIV)
The heart is deceitful above all things...

Deceitful is difficult to detect.

Jeremiah 17:9 (NIV)
The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure.
Jeremiah 17:9 NIV
The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?

“I don’t understand why I decided what I decided.”

“Are you being honest with yourself?”

“Are you being honest with yourself, really?”

You owe it to yourself to know, even if it points you in a direction you don’t intend to go.

Am I telling myself the truth or am I selling myself a regret?

Decide, I will not lie to myself even when the truth makes me feel bad about myself.
