Communion
As we lead up to the cross and we remember what Jesus did, we think about the triumphal Entry.
Jesus, on a donkey, riding into Jerusulum - The time of jerusulum it was tourist season, must of been 80,000 people there.
Jesus is fulfilling the prediction in Zechariah 9:10
I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim and the war horse from Jerusalem; and the battle bow shall be cut off, and he shall speak peace to the nations; his rule shall be from sea to sea, and from the River to the ends of the earth.
So Jesus is walking in, 80,000 people that have been supressed by the Roman Government |
Everything Jesus did on that day would be to indicate that he was messiah - From riding the donkey, to the robes he wore, all to fulfill prophesy that their king, had arrived.
They screemed;
And the crowds that went before him and that followed him were shouting, “Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!”
Expecting a KING to overthrow the romans - Marching up - Roman garisade of maybe 10,000 - He turns straight into the temple. The heart of City.
See, they wanted someone to bring them temprary peace but unfortunately, They didn’t expect him to be the saviour for their Sin.
Jesus’ death on the cross doesn’t by us temprorary peace, it buys us eternal peace for all that turn.
He doesn’t conquer with force when He came, he conquered with love, grace and mercy.
As we take communion, reflect that Jesus wants your heart - not a littel bit ,all of it.
