The Lord’s Supper is a time for believers to spend time remembering the sacrifice of Jesus and to be a time of self-examination
Remember - Jesus said…. as often as you do this remember.. Remember the sacrifice, remember the love, remember the price, remember the joy set before him
For the believer - 1 Cor. 11:27 instructs that those who drink the cup unworthy will be made guilty. - only followers of Jesus who have received His free gift of salvation are worthy
A time to self examine - Jesus tells us to forgive as we have been forgiven - ask Jesus to help you release
Carry these with you as we enter our time of Communion
Luke 22:17–19 (NLT)
17Then he took a cup of wine and gave thanks to God for it. Then he said, “Take this and share it among yourselves.
18For I will not drink wine again until the Kingdom of God has come.”
19He took some bread and gave thanks to God for it. Then he broke it in pieces and gave it to the disciples, saying, “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”
Please hold your bread as we Pray
Jesus we thank You for this bread, that symbolizes your body that was broken for us. You bore our griefs and carried our sorrows. Thank you that as your body was broken You took our sin and our sickness upon Your body and paid the price in our place. Thank you Jesus for your sacrifice and for being our savior and Lord. It is your name we pray, amen.
You may now eat the bread
Now for the Cup
Luke 22:20 (NLT)
20After supper he took another cup of wine and said, “This cup is the new covenant between God and his people—an agreement confirmed with my blood, which is poured out as a sacrifice for you.
Please hold your cup as we Pray
Thank you Jesus for your blood that covers our sin. Being washed in Your blood we are made righteous and truly holy in the sight of God. There is no gift more precious. We thank you and praise you in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
You may now take from the cup
Through the sacrifice of Jesus we have been made Brothers and Sisters!
Hebrews 2:9–11 (NLT)
9What we do see is Jesus, who for a little while was given a position “a little lower than the angels”; and because he suffered death for us, he is now “crowned with glory and honor.” Yes, by God’s grace, Jesus tasted death for everyone.
10God, for whom and through whom everything was made, chose to bring many children into glory. And it was only right that he should make Jesus, through his suffering, a perfect leader, fit to bring them into their salvation.
11So now Jesus and the ones he makes holy have the same Father. That is why Jesus is not ashamed to call them his brothers and sisters.
Hallelujah!
